Peter Charrington - New Chairman

Just saw this guys dress wearing 19 year old son got into a fracas at a fancy party, when he groped a woman’s arse a few times and the husband then punched him.

Went to court, and according to the judge Peter Carrington was shouting instructions to the witnesses and the case was dropped.

1) WTF lol. To have that much privilege and act like such an idiot, must be super embarrassing for his dad.

2) Does seen Peter is happy to bend the rules to get a result he wants. Could work well for us !?!?

3) Whilst looking this up it seems Peter gets moved around at the will of the Lewis family. Hmm, I guess from that can gather he’s very loyal to them.

4) Hope it goes well for him with us, as seems he has a lot to deal with at home.

(Just to point out I’m not transphobic at all)

One of these stories where we'll never hear the truth. The black belt got violent and called him a faggot if you believe one side. If you believe the side then Charrington's son was over-stepping personal space boundaries and had been warned.

Personally I think a dad of 5 with a black belt in a martial arts should have been more constrained. There's better ways to constrain a young guy like that especially if you have his skills. Not exactly setting a great example to his kids how to deal with these issues that do unfortunately happen in life.

That's what then, because all I've ever been aware of, is he'd say whether we can afford it or not, and if we could, negotiate the deal? What football matters were you aware of?

I believe the way we were set-up -the process- was not in sync with the way the game has gone. Can you think of any other club where the Chairman has virtually sole-veto power on all matters, including the way in which operations are handled? The Doug Ellises of the world are long gone.

None of this is necessarily a criticism more than an observation. FWIW I think he has tried several times to place more responsibility on others with regards to football matters, from Arnesen to Comolli. The crazy thing is the only person I saw who actually told HIM what to do
and he listened, was Paratici. Remarkable really. I believe Scott Munn was a very genuine attempt to further diversify how we operate; unfortunately that didn't work out. I am not sure the stories will ever be told.

I hope Levy is given the respect he deserves in all senses, from recognising what he did for this club to leaving any behind the scenes turmoil underwraps. I think that will be the case. He deserves at least that.

I'm thinking a mod or the OP should change the title of this thread, right?

Charrington is not really our "new chairman", he's a non-exec chairman who will spend wayyy more time on all the other businesses he is involved in, than Spurs. Then once in a while he will turn his attention to Spurs.

The CEO Vinai Venkatesham is wayyy more involved in what we as fans are interested in.

I think the brief Trevor Birch appointment in 2019 was Levy's biggest attempt at it before Paratici. In Levy's head, he found his perfect man. An ex pro footballer (sort of) who became a fully qualified chartered accountant with Ernst and Young. Trevor soon quit and is still the chief exec of the EFL today.

I often wonder what may have happened if Birch has really got involved at Spurs.

I always thought the same about Paul Barber at Brighton. Wonder what we would have become if he had stayed & become our CEO
