Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

From the Guardian article, Pleat has said it , Redknapp has said but according to so many Levy haters he was always interfering.

Importantly, I have never known Daniel interfere with the business of the manager. I worked there as the director of football, had two spells as caretaker manager and spent 14 years as a scouting consultant and never has he interfered with selection or tactics. I’ve had chairmen who would ask: ‘Why is so-and-so not playing this week?’ But Daniel was never like that.
Clearly shows levy was not a football man lool

I wonder how many of the Levy out phalanx are the same numpties that are painting Red crosses on roundabouts and Dustbins (you read that right some one actually painted a red cross on a dustbin.

A dustbin!!!

The Disrespect of that is outstanding and completely oblivious to them.
Absolute stupid comment.

I wonder how many Muslim Pakistani rape gang members and their communities silence are calling people racists?

Let’s not paint everyone in the same brush to push agendas right?

But they did by dishing out a controversial punishment. They've divided the fan base judging by comments on the internet

The vast majority of comments I have read about it have been that the poster went too far and what else did he expect?
I very much doubt most of the fanbase is aware of it at all.

It is possible, as speculated on here (and that's all we can do, as the club don't talk publicly about individual sanctions unless it is following on from an arrest/charges), that the post in question may not have been the first from this person to cause offense and this was the final straw. Or it may simply, and more likely imo, be that it was judged it to be a vile, abusive comment (maybe seeing anti-semitic undertones) that breaches the terms and conditions of membership, for which a ban is one of the sanctions open to the club.
He may be able to get it reduced from 3 years if he makes his case through the proper channels.

Plus they seem to be taking a harder stance with SM posts. Remember the Tel racist comments, the club really pushed back on that. Maybe it’s all part of a change in approach

“We are disgusted at the racial abuse Mathys Tel has received on social media following last night’s Uefa Super Cup defeat,” Spurs said. “Mathys showed bravery and courage to step forward and take a penalty, yet those who abuse him are nothing but cowards – hiding behind anonymous usernames and profiles to spout their abhorrent views.
“We will work with the authorities and social media platforms to take the strongest possible action against any individual we are able to identify. We stand with you, Mathys.”

Here are the conditions of ST holder/membership at Spurs, the fan has clearly broken the guidelines and the so called joke wasn't remotely funny.

Members must at all times do everything within their power and control to protect and enhance the good name of the Club and not to diminish the good name of the Club or its players in any way or through any means. Racial, homophobic, discriminatory, threatening and/or abusive language, chanting or harassment is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest or ejection from the Stadium where an incident takes place in the Stadium and/or possible sanctions under the Club’s Sanctions and Banning Policy, whether or not such behaviour takes place on Club premises or away from Club premises (including, without limitation, online, telephone or any other Club channels). The Club reserves the right to use its discretion as to what constitutes discriminatory, threatening and/or abusive language and/or behaviour and such offence may incur a sanction of up to and including an indefinite ban from Club premises. This applies to incidents that take place on and/or away from Club premises and to any form of communication, including online, telephone, emails or other Club channels with Club staff, representatives or fellow supporters.

FWIW I hadn’t even heard this happened and had to look it up.

My first thought is that Michael Scott in the office makes the same joke, and pretty sure Ricky Gervais makes the joke in one of his stand-ups..

So, it’s clearly a joke and I was going to rant about how come it’s fine for them but a joke on Twitter isn’t.

However, I guess the difference is this guy made the joke about a real person, and has agreed to T & Cs with his ST.

Post Poch and post stadium opening, I think he was still doing his best for the club, but I think some of the decisions weren’t as strong as they could have been. And that’s where the groundswell started. I think that groundswell still caricatures him unfairly, but boiled down to its simplest terms, every Spurs fan wanted to push on post the stadium opening, because we had everything in place to be a top club. We just needed the team. And there was an open question as to whether we would get there under Daniel. Unfortunately some people expressed that doubt in really macaronic terms.
That still boils down to him only being able to spend the money we generate, even if that was on the increase post stadium.

Where DL did take a wrong turn is rather focussing on the strategy that we currently employ (squad wise) he thought a star manager was going to be a magic button. Whether he was blinded by the sheer beauty of the infrastructure he had created and (mistakenly) thought 'we are massive now, I need a massive manager' I can only speculate. But what we do know is it went horribly wrong.

As usual most people do not read all terms and conditions before purchasing something.

I too am really heartened that people that really know the man are speaking up for him in the media today. I see a fair bit of myself in his personality - I hate being the centre of attention, could probably advocate for myself better a lot, but I believe in doing the ‘right things’ not because you want the public credit, but because it’s the right thing to do. And Daniel clearly believed a lot in family and community. The people that really know him, and got to experience it deeply and first hand, will have seen what he is really like. And it is right that they will go to bat for him when he probably won’t go to bat for himself in the same way.
Ditto mate

Right, because that’s exactly the same thing.

I was relating it to the prediction of a minority outside investor coming in.

ENIC would probably prefer DLs holding to be the one 'up for sale' ... otherwise it's them that have to sell a chunk.

Unless they go for a share issue and dilute everyone's share holding.
But that cash would go to Levy then
No guarantee that any would be reinvested

ENIC levy was just their figure head.

I've never rated Levy's football acumen, so happy to have a new face in charge but ultimately the parameters for success are set by the owners.
A couple of days on from him leaving and I am even less convinced anything is going to change much.

Talk of 100 cash injection from Enic? What is that actually going to achieve ? 1 top player?

We might see transfer deals speed up slightly and clubs will be more inclined to deal with us, but im not sure that will effect much
