None of Tel, Odobert, Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic or Takai count as U21, as they haven't been with us for two years yet - they have to go in with the main group too
I do sometimes wish you would do a bit of research before making claims mate....

All of those players count as under 21 for the premier league. They only don't count as under 21 in European competition.

Every single one of Tel, Odobert, Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic and Takai could be registered in Spurs' Premier League squad without taking up an overseas spot.

The only PL stipulation is that we can have a maximum of 17 non homegrown players who are over the age of 21 on January 1st. See below....

There is no specific "2 year rule" for U21 players in the Premier League, but rather for the Homegrown Player Rule, which requires players to be registered with an English or Welsh club for three full seasons before turning 21 to be considered "homegrown". U21 players (those born on or after January 1st of the relevant year) can be registered with a club in an unlimited number beyond the 25-man senior squad, regardless of their origin or nationality.

The Homegrown Player Rule
  • Definition:
A "homegrown" player is defined as someone who has been registered with any club affiliated to The FA or the Football Association of Wales (FAW) for a minimum of three full seasons before their 21st birthday.

  • Squad Implications:
In a 25-man senior squad, a maximum of 17 players can be non-homegrown, meaning a minimum of eight players must meet the "homegrown" criteria.

  • Purpose:
This rule encourages clubs to invest in developing local talent and ensures a certain number of players in the senior squad have been developed in England or Wales.
Under-21 Players
  • Unlimited Registration:
On top of the 25-man senior squad, clubs can register an unlimited number of Under-21 players.

  • Age Definition:
For the 2025/26 Premier League season, an Under-21 player is someone born on or after January 1, 2004.

But our easier fixtures, when we are likely going to want to rotate those players in more, will be the midweek ones

Funny because gray, bergvall and odobert were in our b squad last season according to the official club site. Which i already linked to you but you must have ignored.

He ignores it. I posted last seasons squad from tottenhams site which had gray, bergvall and odobert as b list a couple of weeks ago.

Whataboutery. We can register every player we have right now for our PL squad, including the injured ones and even register the ones we know we know are nowhere near good enough and that we would happily give away such as your favourite player Bryan Gill.

The issue is more that say we won't be able to register any of Dragusin, Davies, Takai or Vuskovic for Europe. Are you happy knowing Romero, vdV and Danso will be our only 3 CBs for that competition, meaning they'll mostly be playing 2 games a week all season?

If that was the issue then why didn't you say that in your initial post?

Dragusin has a bad long-term injury, I didn't expect him to figure in our CL squad for the first half of this season anyway and who knows what will happen by the time the squad is named post January.

Takai was never likely to be in the CL squad anyway. He is young and completely unproven, the same for Vuskovic
Davies I think will be in the squad.

So that is 3 'first team' centre backs in Romero, VDV and Danso, as well as an experienced back-up in Davies as well as Gray who has shown he can play well there to cover the CL. 5 more than capable players. That is ample for that competition.

Of course it would be great if we could go out and buy somebody like Hincapie and have him replace Davies so that Davies was available for domestic competitions only but I don't think we're prepared to spend the money for that to happen

If (and it is still an if) either/both of Vuskovic or Takai aren't loaned out then they will be available as cover for the PL and domestic cup games.

He will be just 29 at the end of this month, how long has he got left on his contract? He was still a decent player £20m would be a fair price in todays market.

Does Gray make the 17 man squad then (after our 4 HG and 0 CT)? We're in such a pickle because we don't have any CT players, a lot of important players are going to have to miss out.

So you want to get rid of players because some can only be in the pl squad and not the cl squad?
How the hell does that help us? We'd still have the same amount available for cl just less players for the pl, fa cup and league cup. Putting more pressure on the squad as a whole as there will be less rest. More injuries most likely.

No, just that we can't carry any fat/still need to shift about 5 out, and need to be careful about bringing in any fillers. We're already fairly handicapped by the rules/our historic poor management of youth pathways.

You keep on spouting this nonsense even after I have shown you above that we can name all of our players in our PL squad even the absolutely useless Bryan Gill.

We do not need to shift a single player right now. If we bring a player in then we have numerous currently injured players we could not name.... and that is before the likelihood of us jettisoning Gill (I suspect we will loan him to avoid a net book loss)

What a peculiar suite of rules.

What a peculiar suite of rules.
Its just a tangle to get round EU law on countries not being able to favour employees of their own nationality.

The intention is effectively: english teams should have at least 8 english players in their 25 man squad

The reality is massive gaming and trying to naturalise foreign 16 year olds etc.
