So, what happened today?

It's quite simple really, if you are an adult and have a rooster and gonads in your pants, you DO NOT use a female bathroom/changing rooms

If you have as above and you feel you have a right to use female toilets/changing rooms then there is something wrong with you mentally or you are a nonce

I assume you’re referring to Imani Khalif? I must admit I’m a little hazy on the details, but again I think many people raised legitimate questions about her eligibility given that she allegedly has a male chromosome.

I think the vast majority of the public think trans people should have the rights as anyone, but a line has to be drawn in bathrooms and sport.

She beat two Russian women and suddenly the Russian controlled boxing federation announced a finding that they have never been able to back up with any evidence 9such as showing the test results). Strange that. Of course once the 'story' was out there it had a life of its own despite the lack of any genuine substance.

Simplest answer is to make all bathrooms unisex. Works in hospitals, airplanes, trains, lots of schools and probably lots of other places - loads of cubicles rather than urinals. Would also eliminate the unequal queue issues. Not that there is a genuine security issue in bathrooms.

Imani Khalif is just one example. There are countless examples of trans athletes dominating women’s sport, Lia Thomas arguably being the most famous example. I read that the a UN study revealed that transgender athletes have won 900 medals in 400 competitions in 29 sports. That is a lot of female athletes being denied medals.

A lot of those bathrooms you describe are single use. As in only one person can use it at a time. I don’t know how that would work in bigger settings where you need multiple cubicles. You could just create a third toilet for unisex in addition to male and female toilets.

No, There should be a toilet for women only and a toilet for everyone else - if you have a penis just use the urinal otherwise wait for the cubicle.

All female toilets are single use, aren't they - from what I know - beyond the hand sinks etc. Not sure how many toilets are multiple person usage, even urinals (except for the old cattle trough approach???)? But yeah, creating a third toilet set up works as well.

Interested in the data on the 900 medals from 29 sports. Struggling to find anything more than that headline anywhere - any idea on the time frame or the number of possibly medals that were available. It is still 900 medals but is that from 1000 available, or 5000 or what? 900 itself is context free in terms of actual impacts? What I did find but couldn't verify was these 'sports' included poker, disc golf (i.e. frisbee) and Irish dancing .....

When you go to the toilet on a plane or in some restaurants, only one person can go in at a time. That’s what I was trying to say.

It’s unclear what timeframe it covers or how many medals etc.

John Oliver did a report on this the other week.

If a trans athlete came 1st in their sport, they calculated it as 3 medals lost to non trans athletes. So a bit misleading

He may be possibly be right about the maths (I haven’t seen the report) but he doesn’t have much credibility when it comes to this debate. He’s set his stall out and seems intent on doubling down on it. I’ve heard him say there’s no evidence trans athletes have any advantage which is nonsense and plain wrong. Trans women still have the physique of a man and therefore retain physical advantages.

What’s your view if biologically born women feel uneasy and uncomfortable about trans women using female toilets just out of interest?

Who’s checking under peoples skirts on the door?

How would they even know?

Everyone has the right to use a bathroom safely.

Trans women being a threat to other women in bathrooms is a made up attack channel.

Pushing a certain group of women into having to use the men’s is going to cause far more issues.

Not really answering the question. Let’s just say for arguments sake they know and feel uncomfortable, even if they don’t feel physically threatened or endangered. Are they allowed to feel uncomfortable?

Generally I agree. But there are plenty of women, for plenty of good reasons, who would not feel comfortable with that.

Although the increase I've seen in men who wash their hands in unisex toilets is ridiculous

Of course they are, same was as they would if they were threatened by another woman in that space.

The issue is, that bigoted fear mongering has put the idea that trans women are a threat out there, when in truth, trans women are far more likely to be a victim than a perpetrator.

How were they justifying that calculation?

As the person in 2nd missed out on gold, person in 3rd missed silver and 4th missed bronze.

You had to put a 'claim' (not the right word, but I can't think of the right one...) in on a website that calculated it. So there were issues with that where the same 'claim' was made, but spelling issues made it a different claim.

He brings up some good points, but I do agree with Jürgen that he is doubling down on his views.

If we are saying it's too dangerous that a trans woman is competing against men, should we also be stopping and girls/women competing against boys/men?

what a weird way to math

in that case we should stop anyone competing with anyone bigger than them in anyhing right?
