Super difficult, this is pressure/burn out, it happens in high profile jobs.

Really hard to pull someone back once they hit this mental stage, often a job (and company) change is required to reset. Ange is here now, Conte hit the same place, even Poch (not to derail but this one of the pieces people miss when they think we should have stuck with Poch).

The 40m-60m bracket doesn't have the same value as it did when we were still at WHL. Its cool we can spend more now but players also cost more now. There was a time when 40m got you a genuine top class player, now add 10m and it might get you a Brenan Johnson. 😕

Osimhens buyout is allegedly £57m. Kavartcan'tspellhisnameia went for £60m. Name the top 50 players in the world i'd reckon most were bought for less than £60m.

Ermm they have been after him for a while. What he has decided to do is speak his mind. I have no problem with doing that. I dislike the most of the English media, press, and pundits. More grease to his elbow.

It's been repeatedly said on this forum that he needs xyz player(s) for a judgement to be able to be made.

I don't see how that's any different to labelling other managers as chequebook when people were reasoning why they didn't succeed at the club.

It should be a blanket judgement off what has been done with the resources available.

How have they been after him, and how long would you identify it's been going on?

For me, even with the club in 16th or whatever he's still getting off pretty lightly. Ten Haag was getting pelters daily and he won silverware.

I've mostly seen Ange himself referencing this witch hunt then seen any evidence of it myself.

It's still something most clubs cannot do regularly. We are one of only 7 English clubs that have ever spent more than £50m on a player and we've done it several times.

There's a lot of revisionism there about those signings. I think they were all seen as top drawer at the time.

Richarlison was being brought in as cover for Kane. I'm not sure you'd find a proven forward of better quality that would come to play second fiddle. His ability to play wide obviously meant he'd get more game time. But as a "squad" player not sure you can knock it. Injuries have ruined his Spurs career but he was a very effective player at Everton.

Bissouma was absolute quality at Brighton, but he played further forward. We use him as our deepest midfielder. Its not his game and similar to Maddison I'd really like to see both in a solid system that plays to their strengths....

More accurate is to say that it has been said repeatedly on this forum that he needs a fully fit squad of players over a reasonable period of for a judgement to be made. Not sure about your 'xyz' thing, and at any rate, HE has not said that has he.

If you don't understand the Conte discussion being had, that's fine. I'm not going to break it down any further. If you're interested in seeing that perspective, look at the man's career/what he's traded off.

If you thought they were top drawer signings at the time they were made you have low standards. Bissouma was seen as player with big potential and a steal in terms of the deal but again unless I misunderstand what you mean by top drawer none of them were that or even really close to it.

That's my point.
Ndombele was the only larger money signing we made who got (at that time) large money wages (it was a baffling deal in many senses, 55 million quid signing yet 200k a week!!!!!
Both Solanke and Richy cost more to sign yet are on 90k a week.
We really don't do big big wages too often. Which is a good and bad thing. The good is we aren't lumbered with stupid salaries and try to play within our means. The bad news is that we will never buy the two elite players per season who could really be difference makers.

Top drawer as in about as good as you can get for the position you're looking to fill. I.e. as per my post, you're looking to buy an "understudy/cover" for your no. 9. That is quite a tall ask in terms of selling it to a player and Richarlison was probably the best attainable player that would come as he can play wide as well as up top.

Not sure about that. It was pretty much a given that with the level of experience Ange has, that he was a huge gamble and it’s on Levy that he fudged this up.

I’m struggling to think of any manager who has been successful in Scotland and then been a success in England since Ferguson.

Probably only Rodgers and O’Neil and even then they had premier league experience as well
