Sick sick world what is wrong with people

I had read the suggestion from various pet saying that Brand was possibly building a base with the altRigt as he knew he’d need a base that would believe him (or more accurately believe anyone who leans right)

Its the cult like defence they give "you do know he is a rapist "........"Yeh but people lie"...........

Oh and there is a ton of money in being a proper right wing cnut............Youtube made sure of that

It was a very dramatic shift by Brand from Left to Right

Maybe it was just the pandemic - and the whole relevance of the lab leak theory and it’s dismissal - genuinely caused him to reflect and recategorise himself

But I do think the change happening after MeToo might not be coincidence. It could just be - but I wouldn’t dismiss the notion he chose to have a base more amenable to supporting him (and having a ton of videos where he says “the mainstewm
Media always lie and attack” to support his defence)

He'd be moving himself more towards a Tate type audience for sure but it's the grift as well, never ignore the grift.

By this do you mean don’t ignore someone’s propensity for swindling?

I think absolutely this. I think Tommy Robinson is a racist cnut but he has also managed to convince thousands of saps to donate money to pay for his cocaine habit.

Fools and their money

The outrage, conspiracy, us vs them audience is an easy one to build and then keep engaged. And large numbers of engaged viewers will bring you money...video after video. Which I guess is as addictive to the creator as much the viewer.
(And that's before you get to any associated side hustles)

Personally my whole feeling of Islam in the UK is that I am now 31 years old - and haven’t once been made to feel intimidated or threatened by anyone of the Islamic faith. In that time I’ve lived in East Anglia, Nottingham, London, Leeds and Wales

I am not exaggerating. I try to scan through my mind to think of one example of where an identifiably Muslim (visibly brown) person has made me feel uncomfortable. I cannot

I can think of plenty of examples where I’ve had to deal with hassle in the streets and it’s been primarily white British people.

I think if the narrative that Islam is a threat to British culture and values had any ounce of truth to it I would have experienced it for myself by now

I'm mid 50s and the only times I have been threatened (in St Paul's, Bristol and Blackbird Leys, Oxford) were by white youths even though these are both predominantly non-white communities. Pure anecdotal but similar feeling to Craig.

Its irrational worry IMO.

Spent majority of life in East London and Essex where its massively multicultural and had zero issues, in actual fact alot of live and let live attitudes in the area. People putting videos of isolated incidents on social media of people being approached in Whitechapel in the middle of the night. I can tell you now its not indicative of the majority of Muslim and Bangla community in the area, they could not care one jot about what or who people are and in fairness neither do the gentrified white population of Mile End, Wapping or Victoria park.

Its always those in the costal towns way from the impact that seemingly have these issues IMO

These anecdotes are super heart warming. I would love to say it is the same the other way round. I have suffered verbal and physical racist abuse so many times. From Paki scum to terrorist to Bin Laden. My other half even more. mostly from white men but occasionally from white women.

These are just bad people though. they are not bad because they are white. That is just random chance that the were born that way. I get that, It is so simple. Be they gay, trans, brown, white, single mother, poor, rich, black, disabled. what ever. They are people who are nurtured by their environment.

Their environment being the family and that's the hard cycle to break.

So one of the things I work incredibly hard on, is not to raise my kids to be racist, extreme, homophobic, transphobic.

It's hard though as their experiences can make them hate. When they are looked at and treated differently in an ever more vitriolic world.

Remember my kids are Pakistani like me. A percentage of this country and some intelligent people think my kids are more likely to be vile predators when they grow up than anyone else. It's been implied directly on here by very prominent and senior posters.

Hate begets hate. I'm going to do everything I can not to raise hateful people. I hope I have successfully done this.
