Ah ok fair enough. Sometimes it's better to just look at things from a simplistic viewpoint which luckily i did on this occasion (being on a football forum it's impossible to do it all the time tbh).
Simplistic viewpoint = Yep Brad did well last season and has 1 year left on his contract. Shown no signs of his age catching up on him so give him another year as first choice.
Over thinking viewpoint = Dear me brad will never fit into AVB's sweeper keeper system. It will never work and AVB will bring someone in.

I thought it was pretty obvious.
Either we've not been bidding and something else has been going on.
Or Avb doesn't want to alienate the current keepers without something definite in place.
You're going a bit over the top with your view that players don't need to be signed to fit into a manager's tactics. They clearly do.

My point is that "Sweeper keeper" is not a tactic. Ok put it this way if we make no attempts to sign a genuine first choice GK this summer i assume you'd hold your hands up and say your statement just now is wrong right?
or after a few days training he has realised we have enough quality already at the club and the 13 mill that would be spent on Lloris can in fact be redirected to other areas of the squad that need strengthening

Your simplistic viewpoint is just one of a number of possible simplistic viewpoints. There are multiple possible explanations for why Spurs might be interested in signing Lloris this summer.
And until we've heard the precise wording of both the question asked of AVB and the answer he gave, I wouldn't go putting money on Spurs not being in for Lloris quite yet.
Sweeper keeper is not a tactic - it's an attribute of a keeper who fits into a certain formation / gameplay - i.e. #9 focal point into a 4-5-1
Sweeper keeper is as much a 'tactic' as a deep lying playmaker, a trequista or any of those other sub-positions.

i was thinking like you at first, but then i heard that he gave very honest answers about Adebayor, Modric, and Moutinho, so to dismiss Lloris as a potential signing seems quite strange if in fact we are very interested in him.
another possibility is that Lloris is proving to be too expensive and AVB has his eye on someone else like Butland who in fact was mentioned as one of his main targets when he first took the job
Yeah of course I would, no problems there.
It's not a tactic. It's a player type. Just like having an anchorman or a deep lying midfielder, etc etc. Would you be saying that a tactic that works with width doesn't need pacey wingers? Why is a goalkeeper position excempt from needing the right type of player?
