Whether it be Zaha or someone else, I cant help feeling having another quality back up to Son (the attack in general) would have been incredibly valuable last season.
Wouldn't that have been Moura, though?Whether it be Zaha or someone else, I cant help feeling having another quality back up to Son (the attack in general) would have been incredibly valuable last season.
If you factor in Dele and Eriksen, who are our 3rd and 4th highest goal scorers (and maaaybe Lamela), then our attacking options were adequate. Add in our backup striker, Llorente, and we have 7 players for 4 positions, which is fine. The plethora of injuries kinda masked the fact, though, and you don't buy players assuming half the squad will be out injured. You felt we were totally covered in attacking areas last season?
There were times Moura and Son were all we had fit.
Im saying another player in that group would have made a huge difference.

That aside, I was responding to your "backup for Son" argument and Moura is definitely that. Do we need another attacker? With Llorente gone, we probably do.
We have Lamela.... his injury stats alone are worse than Liverpool’s whole team last season I reckonYep, Llorente* and Janssen out means we need another out and out forward. Could be a youth player to burn in the domestic cups and the 5th and 6th group stage games, one to develop for the future.
We are in rude health at AM though, even if Eriksen goes, surely we can’t have another injury plagued season.

I’m desperately hoping our medical team will do their job properly from now on and actually get players fully prepared before releasing them back into the wild.

What you should have responded to, as was my actual post, was "quality back up to Son (the attack in general)"
We play with 4 forwards. We spent most of last season with only 4 actually fit, thereby running them into the ground and leaving Poch with no tactical options.
As I tried to point out in the initial post, had we Zaha (or "a Zaha") last season, I believe it would have made a significant impact for us.
Fully agree
But that money could be spent on lo celso who ticks more boxes (although not the home Grown one) as he can play CM, and as an attacker
Lo Celso specifically looks like an Eriksen replacement to me, and I think Id expect that to be the condition on which we buy him (IE, id Eriksen stays we dont get Lo Celso).
Which would be a shame, and possibly an opportunity missed, imo. Competition for his place, if he does end up staying, might be just the thing to turn Eriksen back into the player we know he can be for us.
I could see them playing together if Lo Celso took up a Lamela type position, but still expect it to be one or the other.
Not sure Lo Celso wants to sit on the bench
That’s bad news if you lose out on a signing, to a team that can’t make any signings!
You think they would have learned after Bolasie
