Our best production of youth came with loans, Townsend, Mason, Kane, even Kyle Walker and Danny Rose - That's one thing, I think, Poch did wrong, was keeping the youth bolt holed up at Hotspur Way. You can only learn so much training with the 1st team, minutes on the pitch is where it counts. Wonder if we could have moulded a few more academy products under Poch's tenure if we had retained the loan system?
Yeah, could be wrong but I don't recall the likes of Hoddle, Perryman, Hazard, Falco, Barmby, Carr, King and that bloke who joined Arse on a Bosman ever going out on loan.I think you can find a lot of examples in both directions
Not too many successes in the modern era though. So maybe Winks and Tanganga are the exceptions that prove the rule?
