Absolutely right. It this were a Liverpool or Arsenal board, we'd be laughing at their supporters. We are called "supporters" for a reason. Perhaps we should rename a portion of our fan base as something else.

That's not to say that supporters cannot make constructive criticism, but the thing is, everything I am hearing is not constructive. It's just OTT.

Did I say anything about winning in the actual post? The title was simply to use a well know colloquial saying (and you're right about Hansen... of course, my bad)

My point was simply the unbalanced midfield in terms of age and leadership; if you disagree with that and think otherwise, then by all means, say so.

The midfield is crying for a leader, an experienced holding midfielder to give the side stability... yet we play a 21 year old centre half in that crucial role - and then feign surprise when someone like Stephen Ireland comes on and is made to look like Zinedine Zidane?? However, if Poch is now admitting that we need a holding midfielder, could we not have found a decent experienced option in the past two months? Why did the likes of Porto, Inter etc, who don't have anything close to our finances, manage that?

Looking forward to people changing their tune soon enough.

I do not usually go for bold predictions but I strongly believe we will beat Leicester next Saturday and kick on from there, I am very pleased with our transfer business thus far and I am encouraged by how things are going on and off the pitch for the club I love.

This sort of thread is inevitable and there will be many times this season where people struggle to deal with disappointment and show it by completely going over the top.

There is a variety of posters on here. some I admire, some who are optimists, others are pessimists, all share the same passion for the club that I do, patience is indeed the key, and making grandstand comments like the thread title, 2 games in with player business still to do is folly in the extreme.

The problem is that this team will not be together in 2018 if we don't qualify for the CL in the mean time..... I think Lloris and Eriksen will go in a year's time if we haven't done so. We'll then probably have one more chance to do so before Kane decides to move to a club where he can get winners medals.

Personally I think that an experienced, wily, old holding midfielder would've ensured that we came away from yesterday's game with a win. He would've closed down the space Ireland was getting to operate in and probably kicked him up in the air a couple of times as well. Alternatively a proper centre forward who could hold the ball up and allow us to get up the pitch would've helped yesterday. When Kane went off we had absolutely nothing up front and Stoke knew it. They could commit forward and not have to worry about over committing, perhaps with N'Jie now in the door we can use his pace to exploit that scenario on the counter attack?

I see yesterday as 2 points completely thrown away due to not having our signings in place before the game. I wonder how many points we will miss out on our goals by come the end of the season?

For all his critics if we had Crouch To come on yesterday for Kane they would have had something to think about

Personally I'd offer Juve Lamella for Lorente on a loan exchange and see how they both do

That way some of our youth gets some confidence back hopefully and we gain experience

I personally like the route we are going down and think if there is any chance of us looking at breaking into the top 4 regularly we are going to have to do it by growing a team capable of doing that. Its apparent that we are looking at putting together a team that will develop over the next 2-3 years, hopefully into one that is good enough. That may mean that we lose the odd player like Lloris, Verts along the way but is that any different to what has happened when we fell short with a more experienced team in the past few seasons? (modric, Bale etc).

I've tempered my expectations from one where i thought we were just about good enough to compete for a top four place the last few seasons to one where i believe we are good enough to finish top 6 and have a decent cup run, like we did last year. Regression maybe in the short term but hopefully the plan to develop a younger squad will pay dividends in the next few years.

That being said i personally think its too early to start losing the plot. We deserved more from the Man U game and ended up losing because of a mistake and yesterday we probably should have won from the position we were in but didn't. Frustrating yes but we're only 2 games in and there's plenty more to go. A couple of wins at this stage of the season can soon change your position in the league and things may look a bit brighter in a few weeks time.

We talk about progressing with the youngsters but when we have another season now of no top 4 challenge and win nothing eriksen vertonghen and lloris will all want out and Id imagine levy will sell. We'd simply be going backwards of we let them leave.

Eriksen and Verts really aren't good enough to go to clubs better than us. Right now we are their level and they are our level. By 2018 Dier and Pritchard could well have eclipsed them and we'll have sold them off to weaker teams/leagues

Lloris is too good for us though. But he's also a guy who has his priorities sorted (happiness over wages), and I think he'll stay as long as we keep moving in the right direction. Delayed gratification is far more rewarding than buying your medals.

There was a great shot yesterday after their first goal of our bench. Kane, Mason and Rose all talking to each other and looking tinkled about the goal.
They are the leaders in this team. They are the ones that care about Tottenham. Everyone else that was on the pitch apart from Walker could easily join another premier league team without a second thought.
Those 3 will likely be the only ones left here in 3 years.

Could not agree more, there is nothing wrong in playing abacus games but some seem to think that winning in the real world is as easy winning on their puters.
