Why?

Why are they so much quicker to every 50-50 ball? Why do they seem to want it so much more? Why do they seem to believe in themselves more? Why have such a better idea of what they're doing than us. Why? why? ****ing why?

I don't think so. Our passing isn't smooth enough and we are getting closed down in possession as a result.

It's a basic technique issue then? Playing Gerrard and Henderson in midfield is killing us.

No creativity, not much destruction either.

I've switched over. It's the same **** every two years.
They cannot move and retain possession when under the slightest pressure.

It's been going on for 50 years.

Gah.

Henderson is there as Gerrard's legs. It is a role that he has carried out well all season and did alright at on Saturday. If Gerrard is in the team, you need someone to do this.

Rather than doing poorly in midfield, I think that the first half was largely characterised by the midfields cancelling each other out.

If England can avoid conceding, this Uruguay pressure should give them room to counter attack.

I thought Gerrard played in front of the back four in 4-1-3-2. Gerrard's passing is not worth having to employ a runner.
