Will Lankshear

I think it makes sense, you lose absolutely nothing integrating him into the squad and having him come off the bench in scenarios that help his and the clubs development.

Think it makes signing another Centre Forward unlikely even if Richarlison goes. If Solanke gets injured again your relying on Lankshear & Tel. I’m not against that personally but also would not be shocked if we got to the end of the season and the thought is “if we had another Striker we would have done x,y,z”

Personally, I think we complete the midfield and left wing business first. We then see how many fringe / younger players we can shift and that then defines whether the cashflow model allows us a late foray into the striker market.

I think we won't see the Lankshear question answered until very late in the window.

So be it, I think there has to be a balance to it all and you have to have some routes to the first team for those with the talent. I also think you have scope selling one of our strikers to get a LW and a forward who can play across the top line, including CF which takes that pressure off

Don’t see a world where we make 9 first team signings.

I want to back Lankshear as well. But if you sign as an example Marmoush your in a world where you need 2x £60M+ players on big wages to be injured in a season with no Europe before Lankshear or Tel get a snif at #9.

I hear you and I always struggle with that permutation as it distills the quality of purchase when we try these massive overhauls.

So 9 would be Dubravka, Senesi, JPVH, Robbo, Fernandes, Tonali, Savinho. I'm obviously missing your 8th one?

I also think it is all about whether we can turn a corner and actually get some incoming transfer fees for a change. Aside from the Kane money, it's been holding us back.

9 would be the additional CF.

Applies to many of our youngsters BUT a no Europe season is not a great season to be integrating anyone.
I actually think the opposite TBH. I think there should be more of an upturn on league form and therefore chances for players to get minutes when the side is doing well. I was never a great believer you dumped games in Europe or treated them differently anyway. Yes there are more games but the principal remains the same IMO.

The lack of out going links is a bit concerning at the moment.

Hopefully as more sign we will start to see players move on quickly.

Vicario links may increase this week now he is potentially down to 3rd choice.

I guess that only highlights how few disposable players we have that would interest other clubs... at a price we will accept.

Romero will leave as will Dragusin; only problem there is that we are now on a bit of barrel because other clubs know we need to get rid of them and they will realistically move to Spain and Italy respectively.... and the price will reflect that.

In midfield (other than Bergvall who we will not have a problem to sell) who are you looking at? Sarr? Bentacur? Not likely to be many Premiership clubs with genuine interest for those two. And their wages will make a continental move problematic.

Attack.... Richarlison? Tel? Again where do you see bids for those two coming from?

The lack of links just shows how poor our recruitment has been over the past years :disrelieved:

We've seemingly replaced Romero and Vicario with the signings made so far - this will in theory lower their value. Bit of a catch 22 with moving quickly in the market

Big reality check for some.

Here's what I think is the sacrificial list

Vicario
Dragusin
Vuskovic
Phillips
Romero
Sarr
Devine
Solomon
Richi
Scarlett
Veliz (gone)

My guess is Romero's deal is probably all buttoned up but not announced. I don't think we will struggle to find suitors for Vuskovic and Bergvall and those 3 deals are where the big money is. Phillips and Devine have high stock because of their Championship seasons and should be relatively straightforward to move on. Personally, I think it is these departures and the net spending that secure the JPvH, Tonali, Fernandes and Savinho type deals. Might not be these names but will be players of this stature.

Realistically, it is Vic, Dragu and Sarr where we need to find suitors and create enough money to make the next big signing.

The head scratcher is Richi. Would I be surprised to see him get a contract extension? Absolutely not. Would we just let him run down his contract and walk at the end of the season? Possibly. Would we sell him? I think so if we feel we have enough depth without him.

We will get 25% of a Troy Parrott transfer as well.

Issue with this is going to be that these players are going to be in and around the squad during pre season and getting minutes in the friendlies to not dilute their value.
