Come on mate. This has turned into a 'Wesleys missus' thread which can only be a good thing! :)

Embarrassing because we're discussing a story broken by a respected Italian journalist? Hardly.

Maybe embarrassing if we were discussing a story broken by some itk no mark. But this is fine - regardless of whether or not there's any truth in it.

Ok fair enough but there's still more chance of me fudging Wesley's misses than him signing for us.

so what, we've agreed personal terms with a player?

now prepare for levy to fudge with inter over the transfer fee, so much so that they refuse to do business with us ever again and thn sell sneijder to arsenal for a cut-price figure.

standard procedure no?

He kept saying similar things about Lloris all summer.

Just for the record - I think we have a better chance of signing Xavi Hernandez. Dreamland

I think you are wrong man. Snjeider is a long shot, especially in terms of money because Im sure he earns a lot at Inter, but far from impossible.

The problem is PSG are going to offer him a massive contract and Levy wont.

We're not gonna break the bank on wages for a player that doesn't fit into a 433 system. That's were our formation will be next season.

Lequipe are reporting this, this morning so I am starting to believe it...

My French isn't great, but I think L'equipe are just saying that English and Italian sources are reporting, rather than running it as their own story (which would be an encouraging sign)

I agree. Even Dempsey and Siggy make more sense when we start thinking in terms of 4-3-3 - Dempsey as backup for either inside forward and Siggy as a more attacking option for the midfield trio.

Looking at our squad, Lennon (not enough goals) and Defoe (poor with back to goal and not big enough) are probably our only significant players not suited to 4-3-3.

^ we won't know untill we sort our transfer business out : if we sign Mouthino id say it's pretty much nailed on we'll be lining up 433 in the future, if we sign a Sneijder/Erikson type AM then it looks like a 4XX1

Is it written that we'll defo be playing 433 next season? I genuinely don't think we will.

I think it's really AVB wanting a #8 (i.e. Moutinho) over a #10

Plus he's also philosophised (with lots of technical reasons) about why 4-3-3 is the ideal formation - he thinks it's the most effective way to retain possession or something.

Wesley Sneijder's agent has dismissed speculation linking the Inter Milan playmaker with a move to Tottenham in January.

Sneijder has been heavily tipped to leave Inter in the near future, despite being under contract there until 2014.

The Holland international has not featured for the Nerazzurri since September due to an ongoing contract dispute.

Recent rumours have linked him with a move to White Hart Lane, with manager Andre Villas Boas thought to be an admirer of the 28-year-old.

But his representative is quoted as saying in Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad: "There is nothing, absolutely nothing true about that."

WS ranked as only the 95th best player in the world so maybe it's not so crazy of a notion he may come to Spurs. It will amuse me how 1 or 2 posters will deal with it if he does.

95? I would not read too much into those lists. Sneijder is far better than a lot of the players supposedly above him.

Sneijder is a world class talent that has fallen out of favour or form or both at Inter. He is the absolute best we could hope to attract at the moment and this is only because he is in this dip, otherwise I would dismiss it out of hand. Actually I would have preffered to keep VDV but I'll take Sneijder in a pinch.

So, Levy puts us in a good position to make what seems like a great signing, yet if he's not able to complete the deal he's to blame?

If what you're describing is standard procedure, please name the clubs currently refusing to do business with us ever again.

I know sweet FA about what goes on in deals but judging by reports Levy drives a hard bargain but does not move the goalposts during negotiations and pays up on time.
That is why we have had so many good deals in the past.
What club has ever refused to do business with us? The Russians refused our bid saying it was too low and got the hump because we did not increase it.
