We're the Famous Tottenham Hotspur and we're going to Madrid (Travel Thread)

fudged up the whole thing IMO. Taken a bit of gloss of the whole thing for me. Was very excited about a road trip or that Thomas Cook thing but now, well they've outpriced (flimflam it's down to UEFA) and fcukd over some fans.

Same prices that the scousers are charging

I had a quick look to see how Liverpool were distributing their tickets (wondered if I could see how many corps they held back)

A little different to us and you can also have them posted!

Ballot process

A ballot will take place for season ticket holders, Members and fan card holders who have recorded six Champions League matches during 2018-19.

Premier Club and Carlsberg Dugout seasonal members will also be eligible to register for the ballot.

Eligible supporters will be sent an email and SMS to the registered email address and mobile number on our ticketing system.

Supporters can register up to four eligible supporters in one transaction; however, each supporter will be entered into the ballot as an individual. For example, if you register as a group of four, you will all be entered into the ballot separately and not altogether as a group, except for adult and junior ballot registrations.

Eligible supporters can only register for one of the following ballots.

  • Adult/junior combined – (one adult and one junior only) from 9am on Thursday May 9 until 8am on Friday May 10
  • Ambulant disabled – from 9am on Thursday May 9 until 8am on Friday May 10
  • Adult only – from 9am on Friday May 10 until 8am on Monday May 13
All supporters that register in the ballot will be notified of the results on Thursday May 16.

We urge supporters to register for the ballot only if you are 100 per cent committed to purchasing a ticket. This will help us to ensure we can accommodate as many supporters as possible during the ballot sales.

It is possible that only the higher priced tickets will be available during any ballot sales.

Please click here for full details of the ballot process, including ticket sale dates.

Sale for supporters successful in the ballot

From 8.15am on Friday May 17 until 8am on Saturday May 18.

If tickets still remain, they will be made available to supporters on the waiting list from 12pm on Saturday May 18 until 8am on Sunday May 19.

Full details, including waiting list positions, will be advertised here.

Ticket fulfilment (delivery of tickets)

Supporters must select one of the following fulfilment methods during the booking.

  • UK POST (only for supporters whose address on our system is listed as being within the UK)
Tickets will be sent special delivery to the registered address of the person making the booking, at a charge of £9.45.

Please ensure when selecting this option that you will be able to accept delivery of your ticket.

We are unable to provide duplicate tickets.

  • COLLECT IN MADRID (venue to be confirmed)
Please ensure that the details provided at the time of booking (full details above) are the details for the supporter travelling to Madrid and attending the game.

The person attending the game and named on the online form will have to collect their own ticket in Madrid - no exceptions.

Supporters collecting tickets will be sent an email to the email address provided on the online form, week commencing Monday May 27.

This will include a unique reference number and the collection point address.

An SMS will also be sent to the mobile number provided on the online form.

Photo ID and a copy of the email sent (printed version or shown on mobile) must be provided upon collection of tickets or tickets will not be issued.

Overseas supporters

Because of recent postal issues experienced by overseas supporters and to ensure tickets are not delayed or undelivered, all overseas supporters must choose the ‘COLLECT IN MADRID’ option when making your booking.

Trusting a postman is dodgy, trusting a scouse postman, wow!

I’ll throw it in the mix
I booked up 2 twin rooms last night for some mates (I had mine booked already) and 3 have pulled out (2 haven’t even apologised)
It works out £400 a bed for 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

If anyone needs accommodation in madrid let me know

It’s south of Madrid centre in an area called Parla

You can still get rooms there but their about a grand now

And we’re flying out on jet 2 to Faro and driving

Oops not sure what happened there. Tried to like it. Phone on charge went and quoted it [emoji85]

My mates have booked in the UK and are driving

Paid #600 for a 5 berth

24 hour drive though

The smart move is to get a ferry from Portsmouth to northern Spain. Gets all the boring motorway drive out the way and you can sleep through the ferry.

I may have some UEFA seb blatter back handed way to get a ticket. If I can then will be looking at options for the pilgrimage.

The pricing is set by UEFA though (albeit in Euros) so not sure that can be blamed on the club?

The club's GBP pricing is pretty much in line with the above.

I agree the collect in person thing will be a huge inconvenience for many though. It might weed out a few ticket sharks but most people impacted will be genuine.
Sorry I also meant the way that the points system has gone as it seems that 4000 tickets have gone somewhere. I've had a season ticket 24 years now and not sure how I can't get a ticket to a final. I know they changed the points system to make it fairer but it sucks. I've already renewed my ST but after this I would have thought twice but its too late now.

Alas probs for the best anyway, and I would be spending close to a grand and also have to take time off in my new job within the first few weeks.

Morning...

So as I suspected my TP total isn’t anywhere near enough (121). Flights and cheap accommodation already booked.

I know some with more than 209 TP that are unable to make the final so I could buy theirs. Do you think this is a big risk with UEFA requiring information etc? Wondering if names will be printed? Would you take a punt? Don’t see how else I can get a ticket!

How much have you spent? Flights won't be refundable unless you name change but what about your accomodation? Some of my mates have booked their flights to bilbao for £280 and aim to lose those if they don't get tickets which they probably won't. Sometimes best to cut your losses but only if you can get some of your money back.
Completely up to you and whether you can afford to lose 4-500 or whatever you have spent so far.

So from what I can gather executive members can apply for a ticket regardless of loyalty points. The caveat is that must have renewed to enter the ballot. I’m sure there are some categories such as box holders and tunnel club that are guaranteed tickets, which is understandable and it seems they are distributing a larger % of tickets to these memberships to secure renewal. So the scenario I mentioned of someone holding and executive membership for the first time post WHL, taking a refund during the Wembley period and only actually having paid for the last 5 games will have more chance than a long term ST holder of getting a ticket, as long as they commit to next season. I’m not sure what the % of executive memberships in the new ground are, but this approach to distribution would also push up any domestic final tickets loyalty point cut off (albeit with a more reasonable allocation to start with). I guess it wouldn’t have been that salient before this season but I guess a guarantee of a ticket for any final would be something they could attach to the benefits of paying the premium going forwards.

Out of interest how many points do you have for 24 years being a ST? I’ve had mine for 10 and was feeling hard done by as I have 189. I understand the cut offs were made to stop it being a closed shop, which it basically is for away games but there ought to be a chunk of points awarded for each continued year of commitment to differentiate between the fans who only attend home games (although the turnstiles should also be hooked up to deduct points for leaving before the final whistle ;-)

Those ferries spots were shooting through the roof too but it’s an option

I’ll say it again but this is what happened for other games with the windows to buy...

People will not buy tickets and they will go to a lower number ... I know older ST who won’t travel. I know lads with enough points who can’t afford it (and their not gonna buy them to sell on)

The fact the club are making people collect them is putting some people off which says it all (foreign ST holders)

I’d be stunned if it didn’t drop to below 200 at least and lower

I find that odd as executive members all had to sign up to a minimum 3 year term IIRC

I've got 169 points. No idea how it worked when they changed it but I lost a load. Nothing I can do about it but makes me think loyalty doesn't mean long term just how many away games. Or cup games you've been to.

I’ve not been to all the cup games, can’t get away tickets but do go to most home games - still surprised you have less than me.
