Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

He’s made the club a laughing stock with his entertained remark. I KNOW it’s skewed reporting, but have a bit of awareness with what you say. It’s being thrown around at will by everybody now

They will always laugh at us, because we are no great threat so the laughs are safe. With clubs that actually have ambitions and are a threat to win things, you always have to be cautious in laughing too hard because they can go and spend 500m and win something and make you look a mug. Like blue scum or Arse - they had their banter periods, but you knew it would inevitably turn around because they have ambitions and the potential to act on them.

With us, we're safe - we will never be ambitious enough to go and do that, so we won't win anything, so you can laugh and long and hard at safe little Tottenham, who will always prove you right and (for us as fans) always let you down.

Been a thing since the 1990s, got much worse under ENIC, and will not end until the others actually fear us again - and the only way that ever happens, is new owners. So, pay them no mind - if it wasn't this, they would have laughed at something else.

Whatever Angeball is I think it’s best suited for basketball, video games or a kick about with your mates in the park …. Not the premier league… in football we have players known as defenders and a defence … Angeball should be taken to the next level of revolution and play with no defenders or goal keepers

18 months in and I’ve still no real idea what it is.

It worked in Scotland and Oz, because he had the best squad of players in those 2 leagues and the rest were miles behind. Not sure about Japan but he did win there.
Im with you though in that this style of play will never consistently work because any opposition in the PL, with top tactical managers, will find you out and beat you half the time.

I know he's not flavour of the month currently, but that's what I liked about Pep. When you think you understand his current tactical system he would then go and change it and undo you. Obviously, with a set of players that could do that.

He didn’t in oz. His team was not a team sticker with relevant level talent. OST why he gets talked about so well there
He didn’t in Japan. He inherited a team that was 8th I believe
Rangers won the league before he went to celtic so I’d say had a better squad but I really don’t know

Rangers didn't "win" the league, Celtic lost it.
Celtic were in a bad place when he took over, a good squad but lots of toxic elements.
The board backed him not just with signings but in clearing out fans favourites who were stinking the place out, a lot of fans were not happy.
I think he lost his first three games, but once it became clear the board were on his side they never looked back.

Can’t say I follow the SPL but considering Celtic won the treble in 4 consecutive seasons (under the guidance of such managerial greats as Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers) before Steven Gerard picked up the title with Rangers, it sounds like 2020/21 was an aberration and Postecoglou merely got Celtic back to par; looks like Brenton will guide them to a 9th domestic treble this season.

Was that before or after he had spent a brick load of money?

Its the balance thats now needed IMO, we do need a few more experienced heads in there. I really like what we have done with the youth, Gray is looking generational more and more I see him. But a couple or even one more experienced classy head in there would help ey....

I am hopeful because the way we have plotted our windows recently has been impressive

We need to add quality, and more ready for now

But Ange needs to do his part

- Needs to manage the team better, we can't fudging build a squad where every season you will have 10 players our with injuries, no level of planning/investment can cover that

Said it a few weeks ago, January will say a lot more about what the club thinks/expects from Ange than any fun/pundit speculation

- Buy 1-2 first team ready players is the biggest vote of confidence we can see

Not arguing with that but claiming he had the best when they actually dropped from their previous level is wrong

He threw out some prima Donna's and brought in some Japanese players, players who knew his system, were prepared to work their arses off and do what the manager told them.
The Scottish fans laughed their heads, "Japs! Ha ha, what do they know about proper football."
They're now the bedrock of the team.

He had a poor start. I remember reading that at the time and the fans turned quickly

Lost his first three games iirc, calls for him to go almost straight away.
Board backed him behind closed doors, told the dressing room to get on with it because he is not going anywhere.
It clicked when he got a couple of his own players and it took off.

He did get smashed in Europe though

BTW, Bournemouth three up at Man U and not sitting back hoofing the ball...
And they never let it slip to 2-3 before going on to win 3-4. Their performance was more controlled.

I'm still Ange in until the end of the season but at the moment I can't see him lasting beyond that. In the end it's a cliche but nonetheless true. It's results that will determine his longevity.
