Was yesterdays performance the most unacceptable one you've ever seen from Spurs?

Saudi Sportswashing Machine 7 Spurs 1 springs to mind, mainly because I have a very clear memory of glancing at the score and assuming I'd mis-read it (good old Teletext, had to wait for it to come round again ;) ).

Also remember Darren Anderton apologising to the fans on MotD after we'd been on the wrong end of another good doing, can't remember the opposition (possibly the scousers) but remember the interview clear as day.

Perhaps oddly, I actually find getting trounced by a good side like Emirates Marketing Project less annoying than stuff like losing by a goal or two at home to a side I consider (arrogantly) beneath us, Spurs 1 Norwich 2 from the end of 2011/12 for example.

7-1 to Saudi Sportswashing Machine was horrible

On a positive note, I think the fans need to chant at games that we want attacking football.
Let avb know that he needs to achieve that or **** off.

Hopefully he understood the context behind the "sing through the ****, sing through the ****, were Tottenham Hotspur, we sing through the ****" chant vs m.city.

AVB thinks he does play attacking football.

I have looked up that defeat to City and it turns out it was Joey Barton that got sent off in the tunnel at HT. Conclusive evidence that having him in your team makes you worse.

Hahaha!

Same here. City are formidable at the Etihad and were favourites to win yesterday so even though we lost badly it wasn't a game I expected us to get any points from anyway. However losing at home to the likes of Wet Spam, Fulham, Wigan and Norwich in recent seasons really hurt as we were clear favourites for all those games.

Personally I think settling for a draw against a beaten Villa order to ensure 4th place bonuses was far less acceptable.

It's not even the worst this season, losing at home 0-3 to the Spammers (their only away win in 12 months) takes that mantle imo.

Having lived through Sir Alan' tenure as our chairman I've endured plenty of equally appalling defeats... losing 0-6 to Sheffield United in 1993 back in those dark days when we had the likes of Austin and Cundy in defence... or more recently when we lead 3-0 at half time against City who were down to 10 men but still contrived to lose 3-4...

I'd say losing 3-0 to West Ham is the worst result I've ever seen considering the sheer embarrassment of it all, but I think in terms of performance the City game was worse.

Off topic but forgot teletext had ever existed!!! There was a 'hold' button you could use to freeze the page so that it wouldn't rush off from you. But sometimes you'd read it and end up a couple of pages along when you took it off old. If there was 18 pages or so you could be sat there a good 5 miniutes just to get on to the second page of what you were reading haha. Least it taught you patience!!

I think it was what finally made us wake up and smell the coffee, awful would be an understatement.

you could hold/unhold and a reload would give you the next page quicker*

*probably not true but it certainly seemed like it

For me there have been a few…many have been blocked from my mind in fairness, simply because I cannot bear to remember…

The Newcash 7-1 was a disgrace.
Sheff Utd in 93 was a disgrace.

But most unacceptable ones? Well, those are the ones that strike an emotional chord…

…so for me, the 5-2 defeat to **** a few seasons back was absolutely one of the lowest points I have ever, ever experienced as a Spurs supporter of 40+ years. 5 unanswered goals after a 2-0 lead, and a seeming total paralysis on the pitch. it was absolutely heart-breaking and soul-destroying. I knew what it meant to our season.

Just devastatingly unacceptable to me…I don't think I will ever forget the sight of Saha poncing about like a total, and utter, ****er for most of that game...

From the top of my head;

Losing 7-1 to Saudi Sportswashing Machine
Losing 6-1 to Chelski at White Hart Lane
Losing 6-0 or whatever it was to Championship side Fulham in the cup
Losing 4-3 to City after leading 3-0 at half time and City getting a red card
Losing 5-3 to United after leading 3-0 at half time

Drawing 1-1 at home to Altrincham in the FA Cup in 1979.

...and I thought Bluemoon over-reacted to a loss! You weren't as bad as the scoreline says. In the first half you probably edged being the better team. We absolutely dominated the second, but 6-0 was still flattering.

You played worse than yesterday when we beat you 5-1 at White Hart Lane.

If this game was in isolation you'd have a point. We've been **** all season.

I'd also like to add in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the emirates a few seasons ago which I believe was under Redknapp the season after the 4-4 game. I remember David Benley trying all game to recreate the goal he'd scored the season before and trying to be skillfull with backhells, stepovers etc... EVERY single time he gave away possesion. Was embarissing enough watching him, let alone the rest of the team and the result that went with it!

I think we can all agree that as spurs fans we have seen our team humiliated and destroyed more than any other evergreen premier league club. Or have we, if say you was a villa or Everton fan do you think you would feel they had let you down or been humiliated more?

I genuinely think it's a spurs thing.

I think its too simplistic to just ask 'was it the worst performance you have ever seen'. I have seen worse much much worse, then again we didnt have a team as good as the one yesterday.

Was it the worst footballing performance from a team full of internationals costing millions? **** yeah.
