U23s, Academy and Loanees

If we can go through waves of bringing players through, then we will see this dip, and then hopefully what we had last year.

I don't see it as a dip, it's far too early in any kids development to make any decisions, 2 players were making their debut at this level and there were 2 16 year olds. It was a completely changed starting XI from the team that won 5-1 away at Fulham.

Dip was probably the wrong word.
It's the start of a re build with players moving up a level and the new faces having to find their feet.

Just need to use all of this as part of their development

I've lost track of all our loanees, but Scarlett and Phillips are starting tonight. With Oxford's first choice doing well in the league, this could be Scarlett's only start for a while.

Subbed off, no shots on target for Oxford so far.

Donley on for the last 10mins

We really have to look at our loaning out strategy. Can you still add in clauses that they must play atleast x amount of games or they will have to pay us a fee etc or is that a thing of the past?

Most clubs already pay some kind of loan fee (CCV the interesting example that Spurs made a decent clip just off his numerous annual loans)

There is always a risk, manager change, new buy, I'd say our loans have improved in last couple of years, but some level of chance still exists, look at Veliz last year vs. this year (zero game time because manager chose to use him as a statement to ownership vs. started every game this year)

A minority stake in a club in Belgium or Holland would be the way to go.

Thought we were doing something with the Swedish club actually.
