Butlands looked good whenever Ive seen him, but I did preface him with 'maybe' as i just havent seen enough to judge.

Ive never rated Arnautovic, far to inconsistent and flakey. Perfect for West Ham.

Always like Wimmer but theres a reason we sold him. Otherwise theres not a single defender that would get near our squad.

Midfield? Allen is tidy, Choupo-Moting looks like he *might* develop into something interesting. Thats about it. Neither would add anything though.

Forwards? Berahino? Jese? Return of Crouch?

In the whole squad there really is nothing to interest us, IMO...

English goalkeeper stock has never been so low.
Butland is poor and that is being polite.

I liked the look of the newer Southampton lad that replaced that barnacle Forster!

Choupo-Moting will be 29 in March, so not much developing left. Maybe as a backup striker? Although I doubt Stoke would sell him, what with them being in a relegation scrap and him being one of their most effective offensive players.

I had no idea he was that old! I thought he was a young/raw type! Consider my minimal interest in him squashed...
 
Stoke basically signed all the FM players the hipsters used to be desperate for us to sign - Afellay, Shaqiri, Krkic, Imbula etc.

I rate Butland though. He's definitely England's goalkeeping medium-term future - he's much better than Hart, Pickford and Heaton etc anyway. But we shouldn't need a new goalkeeper for hopefully another 5-7 years.

HLN claims that Bournemouth, Bayern Munich and Shakhtar Donetsk are also interested in Chakvetadze, 18, and are prepared to part with £5.3million to coax him away from the Belgian club this month.

However it is understood that European side Gent have decided they do not want Chakvetadze to leave having only signed the Georgia Under-21 international from Dinamo Tbilisi last year.

Bayern Munich were said to be keen on the in-demand attacker before he made his move to Gent after he impressed at the Under-19s European Championship but an agreement was already in place to sign for the Jupiler League outfit.

Chakvetadze has made just one appearance for Gent since signing for them though and the attacking midfielder is well down their pecking order.

Chakvetadze must be a very good talent to be identified by Bayern Munich, but his price tag is quite big for someone who is not playing much at the moment. Starring at Dinamo Tbilsi in Georgia is one thing, but moving to a much bigger European league in Belgium has met the teenager with the challenge of fighting his way into the senior squad. So far he has failed to do that and it seems that should be move to someone like Spurs then it would be the same. Mauricio Pochettino has to improve his first-team before anything else. Too much forward planning can make Spurs lose sight of their short-term goals of silverware.

They pulled out of the £15 million race to land England international Barkley and now Gomes who they came close to signing in the summer is in their sights.

Pochettino left it too late on transfer deadline day in August to sign Gomes who has only made two starts for Barca so far this season.

West Ham United are also interested in Gomes but he doesn’t fancy getting involved in a battle against relegation from the Premier League.

Manchester United have also taken a look at Portuguese international Gomes but have now dropped their interest leaving the way clear for Tottenham.

It gives Tottenham who are keen to strengthen their squad during this transfer window the edge to sign him before the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Spurs begin their FA Cup campaign at Wembley against AFC Wimbledon knowing that it is realistically their best chance of silverware this season.

But Pochettino was forced to backtrack on his earlier comments about the historic competition.

“The problem is that I’m sometimes too honest and showing my feelings and emotions,” he said. “Maybe I need to change.

“You need to put my words in context. For a club like Tottenham to be consistent in the top four, fighting for the Champions League and the Premier League is so important for us.

“Of course the Carabao Cup and FA Cup are important to win.

“The team, everyone, we want to win trophies but with the players we have today, it is so important to be consistent in the Premier and then a massive effort in the Champions League. They are such important competitions for the club.”

RYAN SESSEGNON is at the centre of a left-back transfer window merry-go-round.

Fulham’s England Under-19s international is a £25million target for Tottenham – even though he’s only 17.

But Sessegnon, who can also operate as a wing-back, has also been scouted by Manchester United and linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Everton.

If Spurs land him, that could trigger the departure of United target Danny Rose, 27.

And in another twist, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on reuniting with Old Trafford defender Luke Shaw, 22, as an alternative.

Sessegnon is seen as one of England’s top talents after notching seven goals this term.

Manchester United have identified Celtic’s Kieran Tierney as an alternative to first-choice left-back target Danny Rose.

United are weighing up a January move for Rose, but have balked at Tottenham’s £50million valuation of the England international.

Celtic skipper Tierney, who has been tracked by United for the last two seasons, has emerged as a cheaper alternative if a move for Rose proves impossible.

Tierney, 20, who signed a six-year contract with Celtic in October, would cost around £25m and has the added bonus of also being able to play at right-back.

Despite Luke Shaw’s re-emergence in recent weeks, United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to add a recognised left-back to his squad, with Rose the main target.



I dont see why we would sell Rose for any less, or be at all worried about keeping him.
I dont see why Utd wouldnt pay, they have previous for 'keeping up with the Jones'" type behaviour and have wasted millions in the market before.

What a small minded view ... certain players settle better in different leagues.

Players have their own mentality and paulinho should have been made to feel comfortable in England .... But he was met with a lot of uncertainty from within the club... not to even mention in a foreign country.

It’s Alex McCarthy who was at Palace, he is 28 and been around a few blocks

You took it too serious, I'm afraid.
Paulinho has a different role in that team compared to these two, no doubt they could be good signings. (I think it's highly unlikely to get both of them in this window.)
