Transfer thread

I would imagine it certainly played a part in his development as a CM. But he was without a doubt a natural talent in certain aspects of his game.

If I were teaching youth football, I would have players routinely moving between positions to a) learn different skill sets but also b) learn how to defend against those positions now knowing what they are looking to do when they receive the ball.

Thats exactly how Ajax set up their youth teams, players aren't assigned a position until a certain age or a certain number of years in their teams (can't remember which).

Didn't we have something like the 5th or 6th best PL form under RDZ in the 7 games in charge. That was with last season's squad. Extrapolate that to the new squad, a full pre-season with the players and I see no reason why we can't make some serious waves this season. It's those attacking slots that get you wondering though. I'm hoping we can get some serious business done in these next 2-3 weeks. Players need to leave the club.
De Zerbi did just say that a couple more high quality attacking signings are expected/wanted so the hope is we've got a great chance of starting the season on a very strong footing

You mean about how accurate that number was, whether he's changed his mind about anyone?

What you want with any manager is to get to the point where they "outwardly own" their squad.....every player. I hate it where you get into the 3rd or 4th transfer window and they are still hiding behind the fact that the squad isn't really theirs. That happened a lot with Ange as an example, even after he left and made a few quid with Neville and Carragher bemoaning the lack of big signings. That was after £400m of investment in 2 years. Ditto others like Jose and Conte. I remember the Jose interview where he basically told the world that the club couldn't really get him an elite centre half so he would need to settle for Rodon. Then you have Conte talking about Spence as a club signing. I mean, how must you feel if you're those players?

I actually want a Spurs manager to say that he accepts that his job is to get the best out of the squad he is given and thank the club for the great work and investment that has happened to help them with that. It would be great if RDZ could elaborate on his earlier comments and give us assurances that he is really happy with HIS squad. Is that too much to ask when you're giving the guy £12m a year?

We all know you can keep developing every squad. It's subtly different what I'm asking for.
