Transfer rumours - summer 2021 edition

I'm more impressed that once again they have been proactive in chasing their targets. I think he's a decent player at a decent age and I do think Liverpool buy exceptionally well helped of course by the analytics of Michael Edwards. [emoji848][emoji30][emoji28]

But levy says that this story of transfer is impossible and we need to wait until everyone has done their deals so that we can see what scraps are available

Timing and money
They have just had a cash injection of £500m ish
Oh ta I hadn't heard that. Very nice for them.

Jurgen Klopp welcomes 'security' of massive £543m investment from RedBird Capital as cash injection into owners FSG can 'give Liverpool consistency in transfer market'
  • Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group have agreed a £543million investment
  • RedBird Capital agreed a 'significant investment', worth a 10% minority holding
  • Jurgen Klopp has welcomed the move and says it will help provide 'consistency'
  • Premier League champions were hit with losses of £120m during the pandemic
A £543million boost was agreed with RedBird Capital Partners taking up a 'significant' investment - which is thought to be worth a 10 per cent minority holding.

That was from the LeBron James associated group. Supposedly we had a similar opportunity of investment sometime in the last year but turned it down. Presumably because ENIC didn't want to dilute their holding?

Wasn't ours the same amount of money roughly but looking for 50% of the holding despite the club externally being valued at £2.3bn?

Can see why ENIC turned that down if that was the case.

I don't recall tbh. If the deal wasn't to ENIC's favour I can understand why they didn't accept it.

£800m for 50%
Sound about right
But no guarantees that money would end up in the club

£2.3 billion? In ENICs dreams.... Remember there is £800m+ of debt.

I think the RedBird investment is for 10% of the entire Fenway group. Still Liverpool are lucky to have owners that rate the teams success as important as their own personal wealth...

Tottenham interested in 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Rodrigo Varanda transfer with £8.5m Corinthians move in offing.

Some brick from the sun.

But who doesn't love a Brazilian (wonderkid)

Coming back down to earth with a bump the same paper had a story that Leicester were going to bid £35m for Soumare this summer (he would be the absolute perfect partner for Hojbjerg).

I thought he did well when he got a game, that is the problem when you have a world class CF in Kane. No one who has any ambition or is already a top striker is going to want to spend most of his time on the bench.

I thought he was someone who is you saw over 10 games or so, people would be saying he's not good enough. Vinicius is certainly not worth £36m, maybe if we could get him for £15m? However, I'd prefer us to look for someone who can play out wide or CF so that they can get more game time and are less rusty

I agree he was not worth £36 mill for sure, we have gone through different players Soldado, Llorente, Jansen and now Vinicius looking for a player to step in for Kane and it has not worked out. To be honest i have no idea how we are going to solve the problem of doing so.

Kane may leave anyway and we may be looking for a replacement, a youngster may be the way to go but as i said earlier whoever comes in knows he will only be in for a few games. I get your point about bringing in a player who can play wide as well but that is not really like for like. IE a proper CF.

There's a lot of players who can play CF or out wide or off a CF. If you look at the top teams:
- Rashford or Greenwood
- Sterling
- Werner
- Iheanacho and Perez at Leicester dont always play as a proper CF

...even at teams beyond the proper top 6, Mikel Antonio....Lacazette and Aubamayeng play in other roles sometimes

Not an easy problem to solve mind you....
