Transfer Rumour Thread

If Hazard signs for us and becomes a legend, please dont start crying when I remind you all of the things you said about him.......I wont be able to resist giving you all the clowns custard pie treatment.

(Note: This was only said in half jest)

Welcome back! I've missed you.

come on ffs get real. He is sat there, got a video done with a bunch of placard's, pretending to decide on who he has the choice of while still under contract to the club that pays his weekly wage.

you think thats ok, as long as he does his football on the pitch ?

absoulte fudging tosh.

****s trick

Even if we finish 4th we would still have to rely on FC Bayern Munich beating Chelsea which currently is 50/50 at best. Yes, the same way Barcelona were meant to smash them for 5.

Really 50/50 at best? Despite Bayern being at home? And despite Cheatski missing Terry, Mierles, Mikel and ramires?

You mean the same way it didn't matter that Chelsea beat Barca because they stood no chance in the final against Real?

Would Chelsea's purchase of Marin not mean that Modric is no longer needed?

I don't know - possibly. Haven't seen much of Marin, but if he's the Modricesque player reports make him out to be, then probably.

Then again, I don't think Roman is happy with the way this season has gone for his FM team (if you disregard the CL success, which has been of the lucky kind), so I won't be surprised to see him splurge massively in the transfer market - which could mean both Modric and Marin. You never know with these billionaires and their toys.

Marin and Modric are not similar player types. Apart from being short, European and having a surname starting with an M.

Marin will most likely either play in a number 10 role behind a striker or in one of the wide positions for Chelsea, not where Modric is at his best at all.

Yes, they would have stood less than 10% chance in my opinion against Real Madrid

However (as you might have come to notice) - they were knocked out and now will face Bayern Munich instead

The one good thing about Bayern is that they got nothing to fight for in their league. Can focus on the final which is going to be at home, Chelsea have still got an FA cup final and a fight for fourth on their hands.
I am most likely clutching straws but I can hope this has an impact on their form

Form generally means very little in cup games (even less so in finals) from my general observations

Two good teams scared not to lose - I'd say it's very much a 50/50

If they don't get top four they might be even more scared of not losing. This could work in Bayerns favour really.

Bayern are missing Badstuber, Alaba and Luis Gustavo. They are a bit fudged at the back. In the papers this week there has been talk of Timoschuck (sp) coming into the back four!! Lahm will probably go into left back with Rafina (!) playing on the right. Add to that they have lost their defensive midfielder and they look a beat weak defensively.

Just pointing out that you made similar statements about Real as the statements you seem to criticize others for making about Barca.

Not at all - logic suggested Barcelona would win the game - I simply made a reference how form means very little in this type of context. Just a reminder, not a dig, please

Speaking of overhyped brick players who were found out - who remembers Sow, aka the new Anelka?

Went to the mighty Super Lig and was never heard of again

Isn't that exactly what is happening to Giroud right now? Few goals in consectuive games and the inevitable 'links'

Guess that is what happens to every half decent striker from french football yes.
Remy, Giroud, Sow, Wiltord, Chamakh, Gignac, Cisse, Henry, Trezeguet etc.
Good scouting will decide whether you sign the real deal or not, and if it's the right player for your team.

If you're wondering what Sow is doing these days.
He's scoring almost a goal every match for the league runner up, Champions League qualifying, cup finalists in turkey. Might have chosen to follow the money, but he's an ok striker that i'm sure could have done well in the Premier League.

Fair enough. I only saw the guy once against us and can't really remember that far back. Sounds closer to VDV from that description.

Marin, Mata, Merieles, Ramieres, Essien, Lampard, Mikel, Romeu, Malouda. I know some of these play farther forward but that's quite a collection.

From what I've seen, Marin can be compared with the kind of player Modric is when played out wide.
But I doubt he's able to do what Modric does as a central midfielder.

Yes, more like VdV - or like a winger. Can play both as a more traditional winger, but probably plays more like an inverted winger where he cuts inside a lot.

I'm guessing he will compete with Sturridge and Mata for the wide positions in a 4-3-3. They might also go more 4-2-3-1 with all 3 of them ahead of two holding players.

A good selection of players for sure, but for me at least they lack real quality in the centre. Meireles isn't that player, Essien isn't what he once was, Lampard is aging as well, Mikel is a bit meh, Romeu is young and unproven, Maloude isn't good enough. Ramires is good, but more of an athlete than anything.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the sale of Lucas Barrios to chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.

Will no doubt earn a bucketload of money there

That is surprising...

I thought he might move to England, thought he could have done well for quite a few English clubs and wouldn't have cost too much either.

lol insane, a top striker from the bundesliga at peak age
Would have been a good signing for almost every Premier League club.
