I said to my mate, it is plain to see that they are really, really well coached. Their patterns of play are precise and their movement is intelligent both in and out of possession.
 
I can't remember us getting so schooled at home by Arsenal.

I'm hoping it's the moment Conte goes back to the coaching drawing board and says enough is enough by either ditching the back 3 or stiffening up midfield with 3 players instead of the usual 2.
Probably pigs flying more likely, but hey, one can dream....

What I'm saying is it's one of those seasons, their young players are working out (that won't always last, see Dele), they are lucky with injuries, they are managing to get goals despite no really successful striker (over multiple seasons that just doesn't work), the lack of the big teams breathing down their neck gives that little bit less pressure.

Summary, they may absolutely win the league on merit this year, don't see it making them part of the elite again (United worry me way more, 2-3 more big buys for them and they will be a problem)

Winning the league will do the same for Arsenal as it would us or any other team

Yeah I agree with all of that.

Maybe this is hindsight or some sort of confirmation bias but when the teams were warming up my young fella said “I’m watching Arsenal here. What they are doing is much more ingesting than us.”

Now he’s 10 so I’d take it with a grain of salt because he loves shots and goals but our boys were doing fairly bog standard passing drills and Woolwich were doing a lot of quick passing and shooting. They did look a lot more engaged, focused and energetic.

Quite damning when you consider we snatched top 4 from them the way we did. Did anyone at the beginning of the season think Arsenal would be any good generally, let alone able to school us so easily?

Was confident they’d be top 4, possibly challenging for 2nd/3rd like us but absolutely did not see them running away with the title. Thought we would be much better as well tbh but we’ve gone backwards.
 
Arsenal don’t have a top striker but they’ve got some outstanding players; Odegaard, Saliba, Partey and Martinelli. It’s actually scary how much they would be if they had a world class striker.

Both PEH and Sarr are to blame for the Partey shot and the second goal. Both times they both get drawn either too far forward, or too far back to pick up the shooter on the edge of the box. Positional indiscipline from both of them.
Watching that again, we had enough chances to win it 3-2.

They are/were constantly chasing shadows due to
a) being outnumbered in the middle because they were playing against 3 midfielders plus
b) other players making movements to give their players triangles of passing options constantly

I think we were lucky to be only 2-0 down in the first half and they sat off us in the second in a similar way to how we always do (just that their defence looks far more secure).

Good to put a positive spin on things but that can be a thin line from being a Liverpool fan...

The game was no where near the "schooling" the media and some (rightfully frustrated) fans are making it out to be

A draw would have been realistic, slightly towards us if we didn't gift them an own goal (zero threat in that play) and allow a pass into the net from >20 yards out

Sorry but can’t agree at all. It was men v boys. Even under poch when we the better side, we often played like scared little boys whenever we went to their place. They controlled the game in the first half for the most part. We created more in the second half but I think that’s largely because they sat back.
