***** Tottenham v Brentford *****

The memory of the Ns Mura game will be killed tonight. The players need to respond to get their confidence back, the attack needs to be ruthless and take their chances. Can see this being a very open game 3-2 Spurs.

Just hope that the crowd don't get on the players backs.

I think the question of why Conte has preferred a 3-4-3 over a 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 is rather interesting.

3-4-1-2 would seem to give a more natural immediate role to Ndombele, GLC or Alli. Son and Kane as strikers, looks good. Seems like a strong line-up.

Problems for me are:
-Lack of trustworthy options for the #10 role. GLC injured, clear questions over Ndombele, Alli in poor form for a long time.
-No real options up front. Moura? Bergwijn? Gil? One of the #10 options as strikers? Can't see it. Two games a week, need for a consistent system to work that in, need for bench options.

Starting 11 might look stronger in a 3-4-1-2, but there are no real options and little trust in the #10. No real natural role for Moura or Bergwijn.

Don't expect a change now. Think Conte will try to stick with this to work a system into the players without chopping and changing. I think that's a good choice.

The path to more creativity remains Ndombele or GLC being trusted as one of the two central midfielders. It's not a great position to be in, but it's the position an unbalanced squad has left us in.

Don't think Hojbjerg will be dropped, certainly not for Winks at this point. I see your point, but Hojbjerg has performed at a much higher level over a long time.

I think that he's using 3-4-3 as a stepping stone to a 3-5-2. I think that Ndombele is better with the pitch in front of him, so can have more impact of the game at #8 than #10 but I think that it will take him longer to adapt to Conte's system and what he expects of him

I'm conflicted. Conte is defo doing the right thing, playing the same team and letting it settle. I've been a big critic of all 3 previous managers for chopping and changing the side. So credit to Conte here. He has to stick with a side, and get them playing well.

The conflict is, ironically/hypocritically, I'm not sure it is the right side. There is not enough attacking threat from Royal and Reggie. The midfield lacks some attacking guile, and we end up with a team that only has 3 players known for attacking. But maybe Reggie and Royal will step up. I think both are capable. They just need to re-learn their role completely. No long defenders really, they need to assist and score. They need to stretch our play and create threats out wide. Personally, I think Royal could be a CB in a 3. And Sessegnon offers more attacking poise on the left.

COYS.

Back in a position where, if we win our games in hand we could go 4th. At home against a mid-table side, big chance to move up the table.

A scenario, where in the past, we have tended to mess up. Here's hoping the Conte-factor will be the difference. I fear it will not be an easy night though. I am going to plump for a really really scrappy 2-1 win

Dunno if you can see on tv, but the shape looks much better, as does the press.

Defensive line looks like it's stepped up as well.
