****** Tottenham Hotspur vs Stoke City OMT *******

Yeah, we really fudged up with that one. Chose Pletikosa instead.

Cheers, I thought I remembered something like that. Oh and having read rest of thread, thanks to all, yep, the memories of that particularly silly saga come flooding back.

I'm sure in world terms Hugo is already ranked above Begovic, but so far in a typically insular way the media haven't been giving Lloris the credit he deserves. It's a bit like - prove it here or it doesn't count - which to some extent is an attitude I can understand, but still irritates me.

From what I remember, Begovic rocked up at Spurs Lodge for his medical and found Pletikosa there as well. He got tinkled off as a result (thought he was going to come in and play games) so went to Stoke instead

Stoke certainly got a good result out of that particular fiasco. How good Begovic is, I wouldn't like to say as I don't watch Stoke enough.

Actually five minutes of Stoke is five minutes too much, but will be watching him obviously on Saturday, and hoping he messes up big-time :)

GOOD NEWS ON GARETH

Gareth Bale is back in training - and back in contention for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Stoke at the Lane.

The winger picked up a hamstring in the win at Fulham on December 1.

“It’s good news,” said Andre Villas-Boas. “First, for the player because he wants to be back in the group and he’s made a tremendous recovery. He's worked extremely hard.”

Michael Dawson, who also picked up a hamstring injury at Craven Cottage, is also training again with the squad.

“Michael was injured in the same game as Gareth and they’ve both returned to training,” added Andre. “It’s great to have them back.

“Benoit is also recovering his fitness, along with Scott Parker. Scott is a little ahead of Benoit, but he’s getting back into shape and back into contention.”

I'm pretty sure Ekotto was ahead of Parker a few weeks ago!?

Who's this Ekotto person you speak of? We did used to have a player by that name I seem to remember, but that was years ago...wasnt it?

Seriously though, I thought he was only supposed to be out for a few weeks. The length of additonal time some of our injured players take to come back is getting beyond a joke

Months ago Ekotto was interviewed and said that his last knee injury was career threatening, I hope its not a recurrance of that, we need him back.

Lloris; Walker/Naughton Caulker Dawson Jan; Sandro Dembele Lennon Bale Dempsey Defoe

is how I'm thinking ATM

Yeah, was shocked, as the initial reports said it's a three-week injury thing.

Physiotherapy, or whatever it is, is not an exact science though. There are always going to be variations, and the majority of them will lengthen the time out.

won't want to risk Bale for stoke... especially with that thug adams around. maybe last 30 mins or so and still 20+ games for the season.

Ironically, I think the Fellaini incident will focus the referree's attention on the Stoke players. I can see at least one of their guys being sent off and a penalty for us.

For me Bale is exactly the type of player you need v Stoke, but I can see why some people want to save him for another day. However, assuming he's fit it seems almost criminal not to play our star player because we're worried about him being crocked, but it is a genuine worry I concede.

I'd be equally as worried that he got a card or two for jumping out of their industrial, leg-breaker challenges! The way it's going, all Adam would have to do is move with the intent to do him, watch Bale take evasive action and then stand over him yelling at him that he's a diver. Either way, there will be either gamesmanship or filth involved, and if we play him, I just hope we have a couple who are ready to dish it back out. One of the reasons I like Livermore is because he doesn't shy away from sending a return message if such brick goes on...

Even when he isn't supposed to be on the pitch!

Yiddo!

Isn't it sad that we have worry about all these things regarding Bale, so that it might well be that in a game where we really need what he has to offer we can't play him, because basically refs won't do their jobs and Stoke are the Antichrists of football.

Basically we're letting the bad guys win by default, but as I say I do understand why we're doing it if that's what we let happen. It'll bloody hurt though if it costs us CL come May.

This crap about Bale not playing is stupid. He needs to man up...and the rest of you, boohoo Stoke are nasty, Adam is a thug. Our boys aren't exactly little guys who should get bullied. Stoke do what they do, if we are a better side than we should prove it on the park

Edit: harsh on Bale, he wants to play I'm sure

So AVB says Bale and Daws ready to play v Stoke. Still chance of Ade playing b the sounds of it.

------------------------------Lloris--------------------------------
Walker----------Dawson-------------Caulker------------Vertonghen
----------------Sandro--------------Dembele----------------------
-----Lennon----------------------------------------------Bale-----
---------------------Ade/Dempsey----Defoe-----------------------

Gives us plenty of strength and height throughout the team with good quality as well. The difference between this side and last season is hopefully we can mix it with any type of side.
