*TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Stevenage OMT *

I disagree with that to be honest. I think that when Parker gets on the ball too much it strangles our play and removes any dynamics from the move. I think he puts players under pressure with telegraphed 5 yard passes in straight lines.

Armchair I agree; MK I don't agree. Parker is not a metronome he is not a deep lying playmaker at all nor does he set the tempo. That job goes to modric. In fact Parker appears to play with very little evidence of foresight or knowledge of causality in his actions. He doesn't appear to be on the same wavelength as the over players with regards to where they want the ball or the timing of the ball being released. He relies too much on instinct, has tunnel vision and can only see what is directly in front of him making him telegraph his balls very easily; his inability to turn and face the opposition when he recieves the ball facing our goal is a hindrance. In fact if you want a perfect example of the metronome/Makelele/deep lying holder you only need to look at livermore's performance v everton. Won the ball cleanly, released it quickly to the attacking playmaker whilst the other team where still in transition from defence to attack all in a positive manner. No fannying around with little spins, no playing one two's with the centrebacks but good positive possession football with the intention to attack. He only played the ball backwards if he needed to. If anyone believes that Parker is more valuable in positive play than players like Modric or Rafa then they are blind.

That is the Bale I know and love - goes down the left and cuts it across for a tap in

Twice in 2 minutes

Although I can't believe he's got 3 assists not from crosses, how strange

How many times do we put the ball across the keeper and no one ever gets to it? You would think they would have caught on by now.

Can definitely see Harry playing 4-4-2 against Everton with VDV on the right
This would actually be fine. Everton are quite lightweight in midfield and won't dominate possession against us. Especially with them not having Pienaar Available.

Forward pass wise, Parker isn't exemplary. It's true, Livermore does a better job of releasing the ball early, but has a tendency to get too close to a player when closing them down, which leaves gaps behind him. If he fills in that bit of his game (Which he is fully capable of doing) I'd say he'd be on the same level, ability wise, as Parker. But Parker's got something Livermore hasn't got yet; experience, and the leadership skills that come with it. That should see him start for at least another season or so, imo.

Long must it continue!

In other news, Messi has now got four tonight against Leverkusen. 11 total in the CL. One less than the record for most CL goals scored, three more to go for the European cup record. Edit: In one season.

Does he have the original record? or is it Nistelrooy?

A while ago I said Harry Kane wasn't quick enough for the Prem and would end up in League One

But these Stevenage guys are pretty good - particularly their right winger - reminds me of Stephen Hunt
