Definitely need another LB in January as Naughton has never looked good on the left and really should be Walker' understudy on the right to give him an occasional rest on nights like this.

I really don't get Walker on the right for the EL. Surely this is an opp for Naughton? You rightly say he has not impressed on the left.
I made an off the wall suggestion recently that we could play Walker on the left in an EL game. If we get a couple of goals who knows tonight?8-[
Thank feck we have 2 strikers on the bench tonight. Let's hope this is not a one-off.
I have to say the line up puzzles me a little.

Fingers crossed... although Rose did look decent before his injury and probably wouldn't appreciate being 2nd choice... would be nice to have 2 proper LBs in the squad though as hopefully we'll have lots of games coming thick and fast during latter part of the season...
 
Nice to see us fielding another strong team in Europe. Sheriff gave us so many problems at their place. So we should not get complacent in this match. There has been lot of question marks over our poor performance lately. Being at home, we really need a good performance and result. But wish we can rest Vertonghen as he has been playing almost in all the matches lately.

Looking at our team lineup, it looks as if we are going to be too attack-minded. Capoue is our only defensive-minded player in midfield. It is going to be interesting to see Sigurdsson, Lamela and Eriksen helping our attacks. Lamela badly needs to score a goal or two to boost his confidence. Eriksen needs to show a good performance after being very poor lately. Sigurdsson is fond of scoring a wonder goal every now and then. Won't mind if he scores another wonder goal.

Defoe has been our "Cup Specialist" for the past few years. He tends to score more frequently in Cup matches. Want to see him continue his goal run in Cup matches. After all, he has another chance to increase his record goals in the Cups. Would have preferred us to start with 2 strikers in this match. Wanted to see how Adebayor does in Cup matches like these. Too bad Adebayor is not available for this match. Kane became our hero against Hull in the League Cup. Want to see Kane come on later in the match. Kane needs to continue his good work if he wants to break into the first team.

Nice to see Kaboul returning to the defence. Before we bought Chiriches, Kaboul-Vertonghen looked like our best defensive partnership. Let's see how they do in this match. Will be very disappointed if we don't keep a clean sheet in this match. Friedel in goal doesn't gives you the same level of confidefence he used to give us. His reaction is getting slower due to his age. Hope he will avoid any soft mistakes that he made against Hull in the League Cup. Disappointed we didn't include Gomes as the reserve goalie in European matches. Don't know why we included an inexperienced goalie like Archer.

Hope we will put up a good performance, get a comfortable win and keep a clean sheet as well.

Just tricky dribblers Sigg/Lamela/Eriksen

Gonna be very compressed in the middle with no width from Naughton

I'm very curious to see if we can make it work... should be a really interesting test of how Sigg/Eriksen/Lamela do as a 3, as I really fancy them to make it work.

I wonder if Defoe will be offside once tonight?
 
Feel a bit nervous about this match, as has been the case for all the matches this season.

Hope we will get an early goal to settle us down. Hope Lamela will show us why we paid 30m for him in this match. Any win will be acceptable in a Cup match but hope we will win comfortably with a clean sheet.

Not an easy game this team pressed well and we're quick. Can cause problems if we're not on it. I think we will be though
