Sigh. Well, we couldn't even win the second half. Absolutely atrocious, and we only looked better in the second 45 because United allowed it.
Notes:
The continuing exclusion of Fazio - somewhat ominous. Dier hasn't been great, and the defence has looked shakier than usual in the last few games. When considered along with the fate of another supposedly 'Poch' signing that he was supposedly perfectly happy with (i.e, Stambouli, who also hasn't played much), it does make you wonder if he's making a point by not playing them, or if he just thinks they aren't good enough.
Walker - hasn't had a great few weeks. Has looked shaky, and off the pace.
Our technical ability - people got prickly when Fiorentina's manager pointed out our lack of technical skill - still think we're as technically gifted as our opponents? United play the same game Poch plays - high pressing, quick balls up top, quick transitions. But their technical skill allows headers, passes and flicks up front to stick - in contrast to that, note how many times a ball over the top from Eriksen or Chadli went out of play or to a United defender, or how many times poor control let one of our lads down when trying to shield possession, or how many times a cross just sucked balls. We aren't as technically skilled as people would like to think we are, and until we rectify that, a high-tempo game will mean no real control from our side, simply because we can't hold onto the ball for long in those circumstances.
Ah, well - no one expected top four, and now we're likely not getting it. Wrap up, and move on.
