** Tottenham Hotspur vs Fussball Club Basel 1893 OMT **

This match will be all about our mentality than our quality. It is important how we are going to approach this game. Being in the quarter final of any competition should be a motivation for most players. But the fact it is in Europa League and against not-so famous team like FC Basel might not be motivation enough for some. Just hope AVB can get the best out of them. Being at home, we not only need to win but need to get a big win to bring to the second leg. Just hope we treat Basel with enough caution and respect.

Without a doubt, everyone will be looking to Bale to steer us to victory. It is a pity we have to rely almost entirely on Bale to score goals nowadays. So, can expect Basel to put all attention on stopping Bale. Just hope Bale will step up his game to rise to the occasion and score a goal or two. With Defoe out injured, hope Adebayor or Dempsey will put some effort in helping our attacks. Just can't see Adebayor scoring in this one but hope he will atleast help others.

Our midfield is going to be a key area for us in this match. We simply cannot afford to let Basel control the midfield. Dembele and Parker need to be at their best to stop Basel. I think Dembele can hurt Basel if he can step up his game like the away matches against Lyon and Inter. Not sure if Parker will start but if he doesn't, want to see either Holtby or Hudd start alongside Dembele. I think Hudd have done really well in Europe in the past. But not sure if he will be match fit after not playing regularly for so long. Lennon and Sigurdsson can really play a huge part if they can help Bale in our attacks. Lennon really should be scoring more goals and this match will be a perfect time to do it.

Want to see our defence keep a clean sheet in this match. Basel don't have any big name strikers. So there is no reason why we cannot stop them scoring at home. It will be a huge advantage for us in the second leg if we prevent Basel from scoring here. Want to see Vertonghen and Gallas start in defence. Vertonghen not only can pull together our defence but can help our attacks as well as he has proven many times. I think Gallas's experience will be very usefull in European matches like these. Just hope Walker, Naughton or BAE will avoid any silly error in defence.

With Europa League being our only remaining chance to win a trophy this season, hope the players will go all out to overcome Balsel and progress to the semi final. Hope we will turn up with the right mentality and get a big win to bring to the second leg.
 
There are pictures in the mail of the lads training and smack bang in the middle of them is Kaboul, what a lift that will give everyone.

Just got down to Enfield ourselves, not the sunny weather we left back in Warrington. Hopefully there will be plenty of action to keep up warm tonight.
Really looking forward to this, just cant beat a European night at the Lane
