TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS CHELSEA - CAPITAL ONE CUP FINAL

Don't think we looked too bad, but we had a major problem creating anything in that final third today. Chelsea operated on the counter, but we did not get our midfield defensively organised a lot of the time.

On Lamela, I've lost patience with him, but we did look more threatening after he came on.
 
I'm not too disheartened today. I think the future is bright but the manager needs to be given time and money. If he is I predict silverware and champions league in no time at all.

I'm very, very disappointed. To not test Cech in the second half, to give away so many cheap free kicks and offsides was poor. Very poor performance.

thought Lamela did ok. He tackles and passes well. He just needs a bit more belief in going past his man. Give him time to adapt this is his first season. Also think dembele is ok. Agree about the other 2.
 
Eriksen has had that spark, but of late he has been leggy in every game. We had nobody who play that simple, but effective ball into the box. The decision making in the final third was what killed us. Every time, we picked the wrong option.

When thy came to WHL , they took us on , wanting to show us how much they were the better team, but this game was just about winning. He played with three central defenders and ordered his full-backs for the most part , to stay in their own half .
Simple tactics really. Stay compact and wait for the Spurs team to make errors. Fiorentina did much the same four days back .
 
I thought we did OK to be honest. Good experience for a very young team, that as The Pirate pointed out needs A couple of experienced heads to assist next season. I really don' feel that there is any reason for any of us to start jumping up and down and yelling like a child that has lost it's favorite toy. We tried, we didn't give up and capitulate and we have the nucleus of a very good young side and a very talented young manager. I'm dissapointed yet heartened. Onwards and upward COYS!!
 
Big positive: Bentaleb. Great game from him. Kid's gonna be a star. Walker too had a very good game.

Townsend was absolute dog shiite. Rose way too rash as usual. Chadli, not much came off for him either. Kane, Eriksen, marked out of the game. Mason ok. Hugo quality as usual. Dier and Verts mostly pretty good.

Subs didn't work out very well.

At least now we can go all in for fourth.
 
Need an additional creative player in the side. At the moment we are high on energy but low on creativity.

Also pretty frustrating that both Walker and Rose are great at getting forward but lack the ability to deliver a decent ball in to the box.

Good post, it's one way of beating Spurs for sure. We have always made errors. We learn to cut that out and we become a top side.

I know history will show they won, but I haven't watched too much of Chelsea and two of the worst games I've seen have been this one and theirs against Liverpool last year which was the most soul destroying game I have seen ever. Its weird as everyone knows this is how he wants his team to play but it is so limited, I am still surprised everytime I watch it in action and it works.
 
As predicted and ridiculed for....season over! Cant believe we put all our eggs in this 4th rate trophy! Actually lost interest in the second half, Chelsea were so obviously going to run out comfortable winners and we looked like a second rate outfit! Poch has go it badly wrong since beating Arsenal and shouldnt be beyond criticism!
