I think its more about transparency and accountability. Pundits should be able to interview refs and the var team post match to make them publicly accountable.

It ultimately comes down to the fact the cameras aren't good enough.
There are cameras than can do 1000 fps which would give a 1cm accuracy, but instead they use 100fps ( I think)
