***Tottenham Hotspur v Coventry City OMT***

Adebayor, jeez he was shocking it was like he was running in quick sand today

Yet people are still backing him with their rose-tinted glasses, saying he brings others into the game and will soon go on a streak

He needs dropping. He needs more competition. We need better.

I'm sorry to say that not only is Adebayor having a really rotten season personally, he's actually becoming a liability, as he's making other players (especially Defoe) play worse.

Here was his golden opportunity to shine against a mid-table Third Division outfit and once again he simply wasn't at the races.

What are our results since he's come back into the first X1?

What's more important, Defoe scoring or the team winning? I know what I prefer.

He was very poor today, he is pretty quick normally but look at half pace, had 2 or 3 times when he was put in and he just didnt have the pace or the determination to go through and shoot..

He shouldve been thinking 2 or 3 goals today and a confidence booster but he honestly didnt, compare his performance to Clint's, polar opposites

Im not an Ade hater either I like him a lot

Ditto this post. Exactly.

Seems odd to be giving Dembele minutes, Sigggggsurrdsson shouldn't be needing a rest. To be fair I've not really been best kept informed so there may be a good reason behind the move.

I wonder if Dembele's a bit like a classic car i.e. you have to give them regular time to keep them ticking/getting stuiff, however it's nice if they aren't always your daily driver?????

Agreed.
He might not be at full fire, but there is no doubt he has been working and working to a TEAM ethic...I accept his finishing could be way better but nothing different there...

Yeah possibly, I wasn't saying AVB was making a mistake having him on, just that I personally would have kept Siggy on and probably took off Huddlestone, who judging by perhaps fairly vague reports once again just didn't really have a massive impact on the game.

First time in ages I do feel confident that our players fitness/gametime is being looked at in detail, ie not playing players straight away back from injury and rotating a bit more, hopefully Dembele is getting the attention he needs to maintain his fitness because the prospect of not having him for an extended period of time is rather worrying..

We are winning games IN SPITE of Ade at the moment not because of him. He has been DIRE this season. We need a top quality STRIKER now.

PS I thought he was great at the beginning of last season - but even the most rose tinted must admit he has been poor this season. To make sure of CL we NEED another striker now. Not getting one has cost us CL in the last two seasons - lets not make the same mistake again please.

Who would you suggest bringing in??

There are plenty of options out there. We need top quality now - not one for the future. I would use most of our available transfer budget to land someone of proven quality.

A good striker is often the difference between success and failure.

Really enjoyed today, the Coventry fans created a lively atmosphere to which the Spurs fans responded..

Some lovely football in the 1st half, 2nd half was a lot flatter but the game was won..

Parker was excellent, Hudd passed it well, Bale was a class above, quality at times, Siggy not bad, Adebayor, jeez he was shocking it was like he was running in quick sand today, and Dempsey well he was outstanding, some of his skills, proper tekkers, back four and brad all defended well with one good save from him too

Coventry fans were good until they started singing about how brick we are as Arsenal got 6 against them..

Good day, atmosphere and very enjoyable afternoon

Agree with all of that Mark. Around 50 coaches parked up in West Street where we park. Good day out for them I suppose.

Dempsey looked more like the one that played at Fulham, that chance in the first half where he did a couple of keepy-uppies and volley, if that had gone in it would have been a contender for GOTS.
BAE sent in some great crosses in the 1st half, but started to fade in the 2nd (as you would expect I suppose)
Friedel looked like he'd been watching Lloris, came off his line more than normal, must have got a nosebleed on one occasion in the 2nd half he was that far from goal.

I'm confused

KD asked asked a question, he didnt make a statement

What are you agreeing with?

So answer the question if its that crucial

Excellent news if it looks like Friedel is adapting. It's good to have a keeper of his quality signing a new contract although if it means we have to alter our style when he plays it could also be counter productive. I hope by signing he's shown that he can adapt and not alter our gameplan too much. Very happy with that.

On the top quality striker issue, who actually is out there realistically, who will come in January, and who makes sense for us from all the other aspects including business/fitting into the team on a personal level/suiting the style of play/wage structure etc? There really isn't that many.

Reading on a Coventry forum now:

Minority of Our Fans Today

Evening,

Long time reader, first time poster, just had to get this out and vent.

Was at WHL today and there was some brilliant support today from 99% of fans young and old and some great banter and enjoyed myself for the 90mins of football even though we got our backsides handed to us in the first half!

Anyway; my point, I go to pretty much all home games league/cup/friendlies whatever but pick and choose my away games due to work/cash etc.

However, went to the loo's at half time and there was a bit of a queue and expected to be greeted by a few people having a crafty fag, bit of singing, banter with the stewards etc, the usual stuff...However there were teenagers in there smashing up the cubicles and toilets/cisterns, throwing bits of porcelain over the top and water was streaming everywhere underneath and all over the floor, and the stewards were helpless. What shocked me even more was there was grown men, arguing with stewards inside the toilet area saying it was a disgrace the floor was full of water and cubicles were a mess....this is while they knew full well their fans/possibly their children had smashed the $hit out of the toilet blocks.

This surely isnt the behaviour we should be tolerating surely, even if its not our ground, I wouldnt expect to see it happen up the Villa or Leicester. It is macarons like these people that give some fans a bad name and cause problems down the lines/club.

What didn't help either was there were kids in the toilets at the time, absolutely scared to death with what was happening and could hear full well what was going on behind the locked cubicles. I have thick skin, but I was embaressed to be a Cov fan for the few minutes I was in there.

Apparently there was some singing about Defoe's brother as well.
