I feel sorry for the ball boys

Looks like the Sun is reporting that Palace is the first game. Would that mean we would need to use Wembley for the rest of the CL games ?

I really hope it's not the Palace game. Purely selfishly as I will be on holiday.
We have to inform UEFA by end of this month of our venue for the knock-out stages. So if we aren't in by the time we play Dortmund, then I think that means we play that and any other games if we progress at Wembley :(

Apparently the police won't allow Arsenal as the opener, which means that if we can't do Saudi Sportswashing Machine or Leicester, the next opportunity is Palace on 16 March. Our next home game after that isn't until April. If we can't do February it's starting to look like next season. Can't see us being allowed to play Dortmund at Wembley and then change.

If true re the Police I guess they are saying they want more experience with dealing with the larger crowd when the atmosphere is less hostile? Surely they’ll do whatever the tv company tells them to do, as they had no problem scheduling our Chelsea Semi to be the later game at Wembley at 530 a few seasons ago...

Policing Wembley is long established so less of an issue I would have thought.
With NWHL there will be the much larger crowd as you mention. I imagine - if they are able to influence it at all - the police would prefer to see fan behaviour patterns (timing, travel routes etc) for some other games at the new stadium rather than having an NLD first, as well as getting familiar with policing away fans in a different stand to previously. With in an enhanced hostile atmosphere (NLD, more people, the euphoria of finally being back home, adrenalin running high) as well as the new logistics of escorting Woolwich fans, the majority of whom will still come down the High Road, around the stadium to the NE corner rather than straight into Park Lane, and I can see why there might be concerns.

More worrying is that the rumour mill has shifted now to March- but it is starting to look tight for one of the February games. Fingers crossed for the feedback from Mace this coming week.

That S*n article is utter sh*t

So the source says its Jan/Feb but another Insider says March which could mean April
So they asked a builder outside and took his view, we will see next week, but it seemed very close and was tripped up by Xmas, if it then slips another 3-4 months i would hold out no hope of any estimated opening, even for next season.

My guess is Leicester

There are of course potential FA Cup games which aren't in the calendar yet but which could work for the opening game. Perhaps the 5th round, if we get through the next one and if we're drawn at home?

A couple of years ago you'd have been quite impressed with this. All a bit meh! now. 10:46 of my life I won't get back (OK I put it on fast forward but you know what I mean).

NB Killer slopes 5:29 & 6:00

That was one of my projects when I worked for Laing ORourke

It’s a cracking stadium but when we built it there was nothing in the area

The sloped space is part of the running track (the rest is covered in seats) that was used for the commenwealth games

I had to buy (for work) the largest crane in teh world at the time to reach overview and drop in the new seating areas after the games

A far superior conversion to the Stratford one.
