Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

You can't warm up on a slope ffs :D

I genuinely do not understand why people think it would be ok for elite professionals to warm up at an angle like that. As if they should have to 'make do'. To move straight forward with part of the ground underneath you pointing upwards and part of it pointing down...it's a recipe for injuries. Not to mention if we have a Winks-at-Burnley type situation where a player is running too quickly near the sideline and ends up going over. I've rolled my ankle enough times playing basketball to know that coming down on an uneven surface (in that case - accidentally stepping on someone else's foot to allow your ankle to rotate around) is an absolute nightmare.

I think you’re definitely missing something. How is it any different to the old WHL, or other grounds like Goodison, OT, Anfield, etc.? In fact there’s more space than old WHL. And what slope are you on about? It’s a slight camber at the absolute most on the sidelines, they’re just going to be doing some stretches and light jogging.

I know that @billyiddo was there and has seen what looks to be an actual slope.

So are you expecting subs to warm up on the slope, or right on the flat surface? And what if a linesman has to run past them?

Apologies if I sound glib, I'm genuinely trying to understand if I'm missing something here.
It is actually possible for humans to move about on surfaces that are not 100% flat. It's amazing but true!

Funny thing to be expecting elite athletes to be doing, but whatever. I'm clearly in the minority and most are totally cool with it. My cross to bear.

Its baffling. You are one of the most persistently positive posters on here (which I love btw), on all topics, and some on here are talking as if you're some persistently negative nancy.

There could be a sinkhole in the middle of the pitch leading into the depths of hell and people would be saying its nothing, simply an advantage as our players manoeuvre round it and Hazard and Silva end up falling down it.

As it is, like you, I am sure that this isn't it and that the club and architects have not had such an oversight and we'll be playing on a pitch that doesn't have a tiny bit of grass before it starts sloping off. I'm sure that even if they have somehow had that oversight, it is something which can be solved relatively simply long term. But I'm struggling to see how people can see that and just ignore comments from people, including those, like billyiddo, who've been there.

Anyway, slope or not, I just want to get into this thing. Next week is the announcement, I'm hoping it will be good news. The pictures make it look so close now, we must surely be almost there.

What slope on the side of the pitch are you guys seeing?!

And your comment about people being positive on here no matter what is pretty underhanded, I could easily make exactly the same comment about the posters who put a negative spin on everything as well.

The wide angled photos make the angle of the side areas look worse than it is.. It's gradual.

I've been there, it isn't gradual

Is it really a big deal?

No, if you are talking older ground like Old Trafford.

If I paid the sort of money Levy has, I would be incandescent with rage.
It's amateur.
For £850m + I would want perfect!
This fundamentally not right.
Heads would be on steaks outside of the ground if I was Levy. Metaphorically of cause ;)

I've been there too. Its definitely not gradual.

IMO (FWIW)

Corners - Wont be too bad as the ball will be placed on the very outside edge of the arc so you should be able to get a couple of strides in. It's also the same for both teams.
Warm ups - That would be an area of concern for me, especially in studs/blades etc. Maybe they will walk along for stretches and then do short bursts up the hill as opposed to along the side.

What the hell is wrong with running along the couple of foot of flat turf next to the touch line!?

They might use that. I just thought it might be a little close to the play. I assume they'll head to the opposite half to the one the lino is using.

My point was more the fact that I don't see them jogging along the slope.

Can only assume it was undoable (sp?) with the NFL being on board.

The slope that the likes of billyiddo, benny_lad and dozens of others who've been to the fan familiarisation event have seen in 1st person and the one that many of the rest of us can clearly see with our eyes in photos too?

My comment about being positive no matter what? I was saying that I find it funny that BoL, one of the most persistently level headed, constantly positive posters on this board (or in fact, in any walk of life where I know Spurs fans) is being talked to as if he goes around talking down the club at every opportunity, when in reality, he's been nothing but positive for years. Just because he's dared to a) mention there's a slope and b) to find it silly that if that is indeed the final state of the pitch (which he's said many times he doesn't think it would be) that we've spent close to £1 billion on a new stadium where our players may not be able to take the full range of throw ins/ corners etc or do normal warm ups and perhaps sillier still that others would be ok with that. Again though, with him saying that he doesn't believe that would be the case.

There is nothing underhanded about anything I posted. And yes, you certainly could make that point about posters who put a negative spin on anything and you'd likely have some merit in doing so. What I'm talking about however is akin to having a discussion with one of those posters and essentially suggesting that they're being outrageously positive about something when there is no precedent for this at all.
