Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Isnt there a complex being built for the players to stay in at the training ground?

FWIW...

Mauricio Pochettino and his staff are obsessed with marginal gains, with new angles and the creation of the optimum environment, and the private player accommodation lodge, as it is officially known, is another example of the growth that they are seeking.

When it is completed next spring the players will be able to stay there on their return, for example, from European away ties in the small hours of the morning, rather than have to drive home. They would then be on site and that bit fresher for training later in the day. It is a small detail but one Pochettino and the club believe can add value. Recovery after matches is a key area and good sleep is the No1 facilitator of it.

The lodge will feature a medical suite which includes hydrotherapy and rehabilitation facilities, and it will ooze five-star luxury. At the moment the players rest in the recreation room at the training centre in between double sessions. They will switch over to the lodge once it is ready.

Mammoth will use its medical grade foam mattresses to furnish the Premier League outfit’s new private player accommodation lodge. The foam technology is believed to improve the recovery of athletes while they sleep.

The Saudi Sportswashing Machine-based company recently agreed a deal with rugby trade union the Rugby Players’ Association (RPA), and supplied mattresses and pillows to athletes for the British Athletes Commission during two Olympic Games.

“We are always reviewing ways we can enhance the health and performance of our players to ensure they realise their full potential,” said Dr Shabaaz Mughal, head of medical sports science at Spurs. “Mammoth’s elite level mattresses enable players to have a consistent rest and rehabilitation experience both at home and when staying at the club’s new lodge.”

Sounds a lot nicer than I anticipated! I had visions of basically a Travellodge, a Premier League Inn, if you will...

How will drainage work underneath the pitch? I imagine that there will have to be cement floor somewhere beneath the two pitches. Will each pitch be tiled a little bit to drain rain water out?

We may not have a Tractor sponsor, but it sounds like we have a Mattress one! Oh yes...

With out all the finishes, I must admit I like the sheer brutality of it. Like some communist wall of sheer power. Imagine it terraced. The uninterrupted stand will define our new stadium.

I don't know why it looks a little disappointing at this moment. But I'm sure once it's all done it will be spectacular.

Yeah im in the same boat - looks less imposing than i imagined but that could be down to the perspective. Im sure if the photo was taken at ground level it'd come across bigger
