Haringey council has shortlisted three developers for a £1 billion mixed-use scheme being planned next door to Tottenham Hotspur’s new ground.
The 61,000 seat stadium has been designed by Populous and is due to be completed by August 2018.
Now Barratt, Lendlease – whose construction arm has been chosen to build the new Google headquarters in King’s Cross which have been redesigned by Thomas Heatherwick and BIG – and a team featuring Bouygues have been chosen to prepare bids for the scheme called High Road West which will link a revamped White Hart Lane station with the stadium.
It will feature 1,400 homes and also include a park, restaurants, bars, cafés, library and learning centre and a public amphitheatre to host screenings and community events.
A winner will be chosen by the middle of this year.
The scheme will run in tandem with the Northumberland Park Development scheme which includes the new stadium.
Populous is also behind a hotel and visitor attractions while Allies and Morrison has been chosen to design close to 600 homes in the shadow of the stadium.
A separate plan by Haringey council to redevelop its principal town centre, Wood Green, which will include 7,800 new homes, is set to be approved at a planning meeting tonight (Tuesday). It will involve the comprehensive redevelopment of 25 sites, including its own council offices and main library, the Vue cinema complex, and Wood Green’s Mall shopping centre.
