You'll also see the Swansea attacks were less frequent and less dangerous than you thought in the heat of the moment, id wager anyway

Fabianski made a couple of good saves himself iirc


You should give it a go, i started rewatching the odd game here and there a couple if seasons back and was amazed how different things look when you aren't so invested in each moment

A couple of long-rangers that he held fairly comfortably, wasn't it? Oh, and the Eriksen free-kick he saved. I will say we were fairly solid defensively for the most part with Dier marshalling again, which makes it all the more galling in the end to have conceded two such sloppy goals. Oh, well ...at least Ireland managed to do their job against Italy.
 
Last week against City, we badly needed a goal before half time, Walker was well offside and the Son shot was saved but it bounced back to Dier who pulled his shot a bit and it pinged in off the post.

This week against Swansea, Kane shanked the ball into his own net for no good reason. Such are the fine margins between going on to win 4-1 or being held to 2-2 or losing a game, just moments and inches in each game.

We were well on top today, they only had 2 attempts on target and were lucky to get a point. But it was good to see us play OK after a really tough midweek fixture.
 
Considering we played Thursday night and they didn't, also we had 11 shots on target to 2, I would say that was a decent performance. Yes, maybe we should have won, but on another day we could have lost too.
Two weeks now to regroup and hopefully heal some of the walking wounded. Tough game next up v Liverpool followed by 2 more away trips in 3 days, before a full week off. Still nicely placed just outside the Top 4, things could be a lot worse.
 
We really are rather excellent at football these days...

I doubt there will be more than a small handful of top teams matching or bettering that performance away to Swansea. So dominant in possession (against a possession team), in shots and in shots on target. Full time stats really backed up what I thought during the game, we were desperately unlucky not to win that.

If a neutral was to guess which team played a Thursday night EL game without knowing I think they would have guessed Swansea based on the game. Top effort from the lads.

Have to praise our attitude too. Going behind twice like that couldn't have been easy. First goal after their first real chance, first real attack even, after a very solid opening 15 minutes from us. Then the own goal having managed the equalizer. But the players never let their heads drop, kept playing and looked confident that we would at least be able to get back to secure the draw.

And all that without Son, Mason, Bentaleb. And with both Kane and Chadli looking not quite at their very best.

Can't wait for the continuation of this. Big applause for the team today despite the obvious frustration of not winning when we so clearly deserved to.

If we had signed Berahino it would amost certainly have been instead of Son... We missed Son because of an injury, could just as easily have happened to Berahino if had been signed instead.

Thought Townsend started quite well. Varied his play a bit, went down the touchline and put in a couple of crosses. But returned to his previously frustrating one dimensional running and shooting a bit too much. Like Clinton he just looks a bit desperate to succeed and lacks that confidence and composure that he really should start developing soon.

Not bad, not great. I really can understand the frustration from some considering the sheer amount of frustrating performances he's put in.

At the risk of getting personal, I'm not sure you're in the right position to call out others for being embarrasing at this point...

It's been pretty much confirmed that we tried to get Berahino on deadline day. Son signed a few days before deadline day, so I reckon we could've gotten both.

I agree with this too. Very fair appraisal, and whilst he was certainly not wonderful at all, he is not the sole reason we didn't win today and it would be a shame to make him as such. Further (and as Billy intimated elsewhere) it's probably more prudent to focus on the positives from today, which were a by-and-large dominant performance with our shape and pattern again visible for all. The black spot was Dier's hello as he will now miss the dippers as I understand it. Still, hopefully Mason or Bentaleb will be fit.

That's true...

I still think we have a very good squad that's been changed immensely over the last 12-18 months. Still a couple of spots to fill, but with Son and Clinton at the club it's not like we have no other options up front. Just that Son has been injured and Clinton is taking some time settling in. Patience has paid off for us in other positions...

I'm glad we're not paying over the odds for players. Particularly when we're talking about someone to be competition/cover for a first choice player. I really think paying too much for players that aren't good enough has hurt us more than not getting players in the past. The money can always be spent next window, but the "wrong signing" for too much money keeps on causing problems way down the line. A lot of the "why didn't you just spend the money Levy" players have gone on to be distinctly average at best really.
 
Didn't see the game but a point away to Swansea is not be sniffed at considering we were behind twice. A great sign that a side as young as ours is able to claw its way back into games away against tough opposition. Still only the one loss to our name this season and the international break has probably come at a good time for us.

Graham Roberts in good form on Twitter - great to hear a club legend so enthused about our current crop and the direction we're heading in.

Agree on all accounts. We're finally starting to see a Poch team. It seems clear as day that the rumours from last year was true - Poch was asked to do what he could with the team he inherited in his first season (to try to minimize the loss on certain players), but has this season finally been allowed to sign his players. It's easy to see we're much better fit to play his system now - and it's finally looking like we're clicking. We were very good today. Love to see a hard working Tottenham for a change.

It's fantastic. And the absolute last thing I would want is a big profile signing that doesn't fit the Pochettino profile. We have real competition for places and/or quality cover in all positions except possibly the lone striker role and in goal. And even in those positions we're reasonably well covered. And that's 18 months after we barely had 4-5 first choice players we were happy with, never mind actually quality cover and competition for places almost across the board.

Quite a lot of those positions and competitions for places has been sorted out with a bit of patience and player development. I would suggest a bit more patience and player development as the solutions for the pieces still missing rather than a "just bloody sign someone, anyone" attitude.
