Like Bob Crowe I did not agree with all his views, though he got the EU spot on.

Still again England has lost a politician who campaigned for what he believed in, I respected the guy.
 
Yes great loss, the service he put in, the energy of the man as chich said did not agree with a lot of what he said but still admired him.

Seriously though RIP. The man may have been utterly wrong in everything he ever said but at least he believed in it and acted that way - a stark difference from modern politicians.

again, i don't agree with a lot of what he said, but he was an incredibly smart guy, a brilliantly sharp mind

He was bang on the money regards the EU, as was Bob Crowe, see it is not just the right that want out of that crap club.

What do you think should be nationalised? I like capitalism think it is a good system but am not against some things being nationalised the current price of train tickets from Chichester to London Victoria makes my eyes bleed especially when you consider how often the trains are late or not running at weekends. Yet Southern Rail who are regularly voted the worse rail operator still put up prices.

For some industries the has to be another way, not sure but nationalisation might be the answer. That said when I see how good the French and German health care systems are I wish the NHS was more like theres.

All essential industry. I am not against private industry competing against nationalised companies,however I think people should have the choice if they want their money to go into the national purse or shareholders hands. Lets see which they pick.

How would that work? Surely you can't have a nationalised industry without stealing the money out of my pocket? So if I choose to send my kid to a private school I get a refund on the school portion of my tax? Same for medical care? I could go for that.
 
I had the pleasure of seeing him speak a few times when I was a schoolkid. Brilliant man. I will never forget him setting a tape recorder on the podium to record his lecture in case the press tried to claim he said something he didn't…

In which case, say goodbye to a quality of life, say goodbye to an educated and healthy GENERAL population, and say goodbye to the thought that we are a civilized society as opposed to a distinctly Darwinian one. Say hello to a more ignorant generation than you could imagine, say hello to this generation and it's follow-ons dropping the quality of life tenfold, say hello to gated communities becoming a norm and say hello to civil unrest on a regular basis.

Obviously not if only you did this :lol: but as a model, the idea you put forth above could end up hurting society an awful lot...
