hello all, long time lurker and first time poster.
i am coming down from glasgow to london this weekend for the kate bush concert on friday night and have managed to get a ticket from stub hub for the game on sunday.
despite being in london usually twice a year it never seems to work in with a home match so this is my first time at the lane. with this and the concert it is a very exciting weekend for me. two life long ambitions in one weekend. lets hope these SNP lot don't spoil it for me!!!
is there any tips anyone can give me? whats the best way to get there from central london? i wouldn't mind a beer or two before hand, where would you recommend?

thanks in advance and keep up the good work on a great forum

Firstly there are no planned closures on the Victoria Line which makes things a lot easier!

Your options are either:

Victoria (that's the sky blue one) from Oxford Circus, Warren St, Euston or Kings Cross direct to Seven Sisters. Its then about a 2 mile walk along the High Road which in good health and good weather is a decent walk (just follow the crowd); alternatively you can take a bus (any of the 149, 259, 279, 329 i.e. any ending in a 9) will take you past the front entrance.

Get along to Liverpool St and take a national rail to either White Hart Lane (about 25 mins) which are probably about every 15 mins and will heading for either Enfield Town or Cheshunt/Hertford East. If you're as anal as me then you'll get on at the front of the train as that's where the exit is at WHL station. If you fancy a beer I'd suggest getting off the station before WHL which is Bruce Grove and immediately outside the station you have the Elbow Rooms or The Ship or tucked around the corner is The Beehive; from Bruce Grove you're 10 min walk from WHL.

Enjoy the game and the experience and let us know how you get on!

Di ye ken the sassenachs dinnae speak Lallans so speak s-l-o-w-l-y and wear a Spurs jester hat at all times

Not to be overly pedantic. But just in case he does get on the Hertford East or Cheshunt Train. Then the station to get off at is Northumberland Park not White Hart Lane. And from there its straight up Park Lane to the stadium (again just follow the crowd).

GPRD81 covered most of it but another way of getting to the stadium (what I do when I can't be bothered to walk from Seven Sisters) is to get the train to Northumberland Park.

It's usually less packed than the ones going to WHL station and not much further a walk, plus The Bill Nicholson Pub is on the way to the ground https://twitter.com/thebillynicn17

PS: also worth keeping an eye on http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/matchday-travel/latest-news/ for travel updates over the weekend.

haha a very good question (inside joke with myself there..)

Welcome to the board. My advice is just to enjoy it. Can't help you with the details specifically as my memory is a bit poor with that kind of thing sometimes but whatever you do, when you get to White Hart Lane, just enjoy it. Don't spend it looking at your phone or leaving 10 minutes early because you wanted to miss the rush on the tube or whatever, make the most of it.

Many thanks for all that, I like the sound of the bill nich pub for a pint before the game. I will NOT be leaving early, I've been waiting to go to the Lane since the early 80s. I am back in London early November and hope to get to do the stadium tour then.
I will post my thoughts on the match day experience.
Thanks again
Ken

Register the card on the TFL website (number is on it). Then you can see the balance, spending history etc.

Think as we will be doing a lot of touristy things and travelling around anyway an Oyster card is a good idea, ta

You can use contact less payment on your debit card if you have it. So don't need to get an Oyster card anymore.

If you plan to go to the club shop then maybe do so after the game as it's a good way to let the train queues die down.

Sometimes I'll also head down to the players exit by the North Stand, not an autograph or photo hunter but it's interesting to see how these guys respond to the fans.

Nothing else really to do near the ground!

What? There's chick king and Brickies. Everything you need to shorten your life expectancy.

Archway. Molotov ****tail.

What exactly are you supposed to go before or after the match apart from eat and drink?

Go to a Turkish kebab restaurant mate. Lots of barbecued meat for a reasonable price. You'll smell of chilly and garlic for a week but it's worth the experience!

As a true Scot I don't need any advice on shortening my life expectancy, in fact could probably you good living southerners a thing or two[emoji2][emoji488][emoji489][emoji481].
Anyway, it's been a great weekend so far, fat ecks Scottish socialist utopia has been sunk, the kate bush concert last night was fantastic,so all I need for the perfect weekend is a handsome spurs victory tomorrow and we are sorted.

COYS!!!
