Thomas Frank - Head Coach

We’re going down, we have no momentum and the teams below us do. Sometimes you have to just change the atmosphere.

Leave it as it is, we’re down.
Everyone on here were laughing at West Ham a month ago saying they were getting relegated - they hadn't won a match for 10 games until Dr Tottenham paid them a visit. So momentum changes and quickly.

The fact we are in the most ridiculously bad form, and yet still find ourselves above the relegation zone suggests we likely won't go down as the odds are high we like every other club down the bottom area will go on a run at some point - especially when you consider players we will be getting back around March time.

That doesn't of course mean we aren't in serious danger and the above is based on the assumption we change our manager.....

Think he's gone. He never really had a fair shot, but then, he never really convinced anyone to give him one either. He'll leave a bit of a nonentity, all things considered.

Behind Frank, the injuries and the atrocious squad lies a simple fact - this club got itself into this situation because of our approach over the past ten years. These past two didn't appear out of nowhere - since the 2015-2016 season, we've consistently done three things wrong.

Firstly, bought backups and bargain bins instead of players to challenge our first 11, who then ended up taking over the spot when the original first-teamer leaves. This weakens the overall level of the squad instead of strengthening it.

Secondly, staggered from one manager to the polar opposite, time and again, creating a Frankenstein's squad of hodgepodge players not suited to any one style. From Poch to Mou, Mou to Nuno, Nuno to Conte, Conte to Ange, Ange to Frank.

And finally, never understood, as a club, that football is an emotional sport - and a football club is a community, not a business. To run a football club is far more nakedly political than running a FTSE 500 company, and requires the ability to read the room, manage people, control and shape emotions and morale. We have never been able to do this as a club, so we have reached the nadir where half the fanbase seemingly barely even cares if we go down.

For now we'll probably get some sort of firefighter in place and stagger through to the end of the season. But make no mistake, next season will be much the same. Because faces change - approach doesn't.

He's gotta go - whether it's him or the players doesn't matter. We need a reaction/a spark/a bounce/anything to get us a few points- i actually doubt that anything will change, the players absolutely disgusted me tonight, good luck to anyone coming in trying to get something from them, but we have to try something

if we keep binning the manager and letting them off the hook the cycle will... er... cycle

we need to stick with a manager and let him do the work that breaks that cycle

we fudged up firing AVB, we fudged up firing Nuno, and we fudged up firing Jose

needs to be different this time

Ideally you give a manager the time and i wanted to, but not at the expense of getting relegated

Behave. Sorry but Thomas Frank has had a go and found himself seriously wanting. I hope that this is one of your jokes.

Eh?

I think we’re going down, I think there’s still a chance we can fight our way out of it but I think we need to make a change in the hope it boosts something enough that we find the points to stay up. I think if we leave it as is, we’re down.
Apologies, I misinterpreted your previous post

The biggest factor for me, we've systematically downgraded the squad over the last 10 years. And I don't really have any sympathy cause when we had the to prepared to call it out, people took it personally and decided to ignore what was being said because they didn't like the managers.

Even today people are chanting about Frank but nothing about the situation he's been put in.

The thing that really beggars belief, is when we play out from the back, there's seems to be absolutely ZERO plan of how to do it! We either play it to a CB, who plays it to the RB/LB, who is facing the wrong way, and has no other option than to play it back, or flick it, in the hope that someone is there, which there usually isn't. Or we play it to the CM, who receives it, facing the wrong way, and has no other option than to play it back to the CB or GK, who then has no other option than to play it to the other CB.
We have no plan whatsoever! Then we hoof it up, usually towards one of our towering wide forwards, with no one around to fight for the 2nd ball.
It's tragic!

did we downgrade, or did the same level of players not step up the way the previous cohort had?

It’s a fair point, but I just can’t see where that run comes from. Our form has been on a downward trend for a long time now, our injuries don’t seem to be stopping and are still mounting up, me personally, I can’t see us having that run. I think we are reliant on the clubs below us hitting a real rough patch again.

I’m just not seeing us doing it under our own power at the moment. I will more than happily be proved wrong but I genuinely think we are in serious, serious trouble.
