Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Fair enough. May I ask what feels different? As I ve not read anything in your other posts that pinpoint any specific issues beyond style of play and whether that style will ever arrive. And is all we'll see if a better version of what we are seeing now?.

That's the meat of it, yes. Personally, I think that's a very specific issue to be concerned about. Because at the heart of it is whether we're trusting a manager who is going to help us be the best club we can be in the way we want to be, or whether we're trusting a manager who is simply trying to make us a larger scale model of Brentford with the hope that access to a greater set iof tools will enable that model to be successful on the pitch. To go slightly beyond that, my gut feeling is that this club is going to prove too much for him in terms of personality versus presence. We have crushed and squeezed the life out of many before him, so it is not necessarily a judgement, just a gut feeling and observation. FWIW I do think any manager having to do the amount of pressers he's being forced to do recently deserves sympathy.

I would say it was snobbery over the style of football rather than the calibre of manager

Now THAT I can agree with.
I think you're right mate.

And if that is the case, then mark me down as a snob because honestly IDGAF if anyone thinks I am for wanting this football club to play in a style and manner which befits some of the incredible players to have worn our shirt.

If I wanted to support a team just to 'win' I think I'd have found Liverpool as a kid because they were 'winning' everything.
This club is much more to me than just 'winning'...of course we want to 'win' but I want us to 'win' in our way.

Come on mate. Below the belt.
Seen far too much waxing lyrical about how great they are and everything they have done is golden. There is one account on here (will remain nameless) who i long suspect trolled purposely for a while about their greatness to the detriment of us.

Just calling what I see, its not personal against anyone

And time, there is no plan in the world of football that is based on 6 months to a year for immediate success unless you are one of 3 sides (we ain't)

I don't CARE about 'immediate success' I want to see us play footballmwhich befits who we are as a club, or at least approach the game in that manner. If I am a 'snob' for not backing this current style, or for not getting excited because we get a long throw opportunity, then mark my card and call me guilty mate. But it has NOTHING to do with wanting 'instant success'...I've supported this club far too long for that to be my major concern.

How great Chelsea are???? Have not seen that to be fair.

OK, it's a wider comment about the snobbery, I think you have taken thay as aimed at everyone which it isn't so im def not calling you a snob, but there feels an air of snobbery within the club, to be clear.

As for the rest, I've seen us go through dozens of managers and I can count on one hand those that have played with any identity that feels exciting or on brand.

Far too much self sabotage and changing from one profile to another too often for anything to take hold with any real meaning, let alone an exciting identity

Indeed.
Of course we DID have it, but we eventually found a way to kill it (and him, with many here in agreement, especially as 'The Special One' was in the wings waiting to win us everything)...
Nobody wants to hear it, but we also had one last season.

I suppose it comes to down to choices and what we all want the most from our club.

I will say that regardless of anything, when someone is representing our club as manager or wearing our shirt as a player, they have my support (only twice can I remember not feeling that - the end of the Mourinho era and pretty much the whole GGG era, albeit I was a younger, angrier man back then LOL)...

I don't wan a make this about Ange, but that identity of football wasn't exciting for 80% of last year post an early game we should have won but lost, can't remember what game. Then we were either getting hammered or playing a counter attack brand in the EC to ensure the win.

It certainly wasn't the brand talked up or that of the year before IMO

HARRY, poch and Conte year one was best I've seen in a long number of years and resembled anything like attacking worth

The back end of the year before was poor fare too.

The myth of Angeball seems to persist though.

Emery is a top manager
Areta still isn’t imo… and he is possibly the most finically backed manager to have not won a title I reckon
I think Arteta is proving himself a top manager. He has gradually built a fine team there that can win games in various different ways.

I really hope it all fails spectacularly for them but think they will win the league this year and also have a good chance of winning the CL.

Replace “the board will fire them” in your post with “the fans will want the manager out and create a toxic environment” and I think you’re spot on.

The sole exception to that in the last 15 or so years is Poch and he basically sacked himself in the end with his ramblings and the book. If Poch wanted to still be here he would have been. Some accept that, some don’t, we all know which side of that debate we’re on by now, no need for pages of back and forth, but you brought it up and this is just the counter argument…
Poch didn't sack himself at all.

The atmosphere had not got toxic against the manager on many of the occasions when managers were sacked - that's been done to death on here previously.

Money money money
I think he has done a good job but he has been backed enough to build 2 teams

He has bought very well and players come into their team knowing the role they have to play. They also have created good squad harmony amongst the really good competition for first team places. Yes they have spent a lot of money, but they have improved with each chunk of money they have spent.

Why wouldn't you put a name to it?
