Not this brick again. No one knew he would be playing until half an hour before kick out? There was no time to 'buy' him.
The guy hadn't played a top level game for years is mentally on the beach and then has to play against Arsenal last game of the season with half an hour's notice.
And he was brick to start with.

laughable on here at times.

Arsenal apparently buy players before games, sabotage food before games, run the underground so they can get games moved etc.

Wow at some of the posts on here. I wondered why Gord posted that popcorn gif because I truly believed no one would go 'there', well Gord, you sure as hell know this place better than me mate...
 
Never rated Mido. Too slow and clumsy to be a starter for a team finishing regularly in the top half of the PL. Should have been fine at Barnsley - must have been attitude issues and having enough cash to not make him want to give 100%

Crazy to think it was 7 years ago we had him up top and were in 4th place. His debut against Portsmouth was one of the best debuts i have ever seen.

Expect him to look like fat Ronaldo (when he was proper fat) soon. With a good diet and a little extra running/cycling he should at least be able to cut it in the Championship. Too much money and fame too soon.

Former Tottenham striker Mido announces retirement

The former Egypt international, who had spells with the likes of Tottenham and Ajax, confirmed on Twitter that he will hang up his boots 14 years after making his debut

Mido has announced his retirement from professional football after 14 years.

The 30-year-old first came to Europe in 2000 when he moved from boyhood club Zamalek to Gent before joining Ajax.

After two seasons in Amsterdam, he enjoyed spells in La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and the Premier League.

However, he has found first-team football harder to come by in recent months and took to Twitter to confirm that he was calling time on his career.
"Today I announce that I'm quitting football. I want to thank all those who supported me during my football career, especially Egypt fans," he wrote.

Mido is perhaps best known for his two years at Tottenham, when he helped the club challenge for a top-four finish in 2005-06 whilst on loan from Roma.

Since leaving White Hart Lane, he has represented the likes of Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic, West Ham United and Barnsley, but has been without a club since January.

Mido scored 20 goals in 63 matches in all competitions for us, which is not that bad.
But I think Mido will always be remembered as one of the players who flopped at Spurs. There were huge expectations on him to do well but don't think he showed his best form for us.

Who was that absolute beast they had up front, I think, in that game? De Vriess? Anyway, he made Dawson seem like a 6 year old girl. Bullied the brick out of him. Another one to do that was Parkin. Another beast.

It's funny how when you look at that list, most of the players who aren't playing out the last few days of their career at a lower level club have found the level that most fans on here thought they were at. With the exception of a few (KPB for example) we seem to be pretty good judges of players. Look at Andy Reid, a few folks raved about him but most figured he was actually not that great, turns out he found his level playing in the championship, Routeledge is another, touted as the next wonder boy for England, most people after seeing a few games thought he was 'alright'. Works the other way too, there were a select few who through Carrick was overratted but most folks thought he was great, he's now at United.

Kind of goes to show that first impressions of a player tend to be right. Even with Bale I would have thought that the majority could see that there was a good player in there at the beginning.

Was superb that first season when he was partnering Keane.

On that kind of form he would still be an asset for us now.

Interestingly the man who originally discovered him was a certain Franco Baldini.
