The Official 2014/15 Premier League Thread

Im torn about today. Liverpool getting into the champions league is horrible but on the plus side they wont get anywhere in it, and Rodgers limitations will be exposed once again.

Man Utd qualifying on the other hand are the best of two evils but a few seasons out of the champions league will help destroy their stature as a "huge" club and there is always the chance they could "do a Liverpool" and be an also ran for the next decade (or more). Once you drop from the pedal stool for too long its very hard to get back up there. When Liverpool last won the title if you told them you had a crystal ball and that they would'nt win the title again for at over a quarter of a century they would say you were barking mad. The same could happen to Utd "if" they are kept at bay for a few seasons.

Henry before the game was going on about how the atmosphere at Anfield got Liverpool points, really

Their biggest game every season and their support has been absolutely dreadful all game, all you can hear is United fans

The media really do constantly fawn over everything around Liverpool

Was thinking the same, how brick they've been ... but their roar has since picked up ....frightening.

I think that first half was a very good away performance by Utd, bar Rooney who was terrible -- almost every Liverpool attack seemed to stem from him giving the ball away. Other than that, Utd controlled possession and were very disciplined (Phil Jones aside). Their goal was excellent.

But they didn't get a 2nd, so I'd expect Liverpool to come out with a different plan 2nd half and cause Utd more problems. They will probably get back into it. I reckon LvG would be happy with a point.

i think we need man utd to finish top 4 more than liverpool tbh. i dont think man utd will "do a liverpool" for a long while yet. they have too much money, and i think they will keep spending every summer if they dont get into the top 4/win titles, like they did this summer. liverpool on the other hand will benefit massively from any additional ucl money that they get. and this could make the gap between them and us bigger. we dont want this.
