The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

I still find it staggering that, in the famous '2 from 8' season, we had played three more games than Sunderland have and only had an extra point to show for it. Ouch!

Has anyone said anything about the DiCanio reaction today?? Never seen anything like that before. Real weird stuff.

According to half this board around the time he was appointed he was gonna be a great manager.

That was before he signed 13 new players... Any manager who does that in one window is asking for the sack. Being a nutter has little to do with it, it is just another stick to beat him with, just like the fascism thing. Results are what matter and if they continue to elude Sunderland then he will go, probably due to the fact he doesn't know his best team and his team don't know each other rather than any deficiencies he has as a manager.

Here is a quick transcript of what was said:

Redknapp asked:

‘’Congratulations Jose, you must be so pleased with Oscar’s development, man-of-the-match today?’’

Mourinho’s paraphrased response:

‘’Yes I am, I understand that lots of people including yourself you like very much Mata and you believe that Mata should be in that position. I think the evolution of the team and the way I want to play with Mata and Oscar together I want that but for that to work it has to work to a certain way of play. Because I am not ready to change Oscar’s position, I think Oscar is a number 10 that gives us creativity but at the same time when we want to press up Oscar is a runner... We will stick with our ideas, and you are paid to have an opinion and I am paid to work and put in practice my ideas …I respect you a lot I think you are very good but Chelsea manager is Jose Mourinho not Jamie Redknapp.’’

And Redknapp laughed and joked and said ‘Absolutely’ with all the conviction of a smiling turkey at Thanksgiving.

To be fair to Redknapp, he said at the time they showed the graphic that it should not have been 'Mata vs Oscar'. It was more an illustration of Mata's general contribution.

My GHod I hate (hate in the footballing, pantomime sense) Mourinho. Such a self-important tw*t.

Were Chelsea playing on the counter under Fat Rafa when they stuffed Villa 8-0 last season?

Remind me how Chelsea approached the Super Cup game against Bayern a few weeks ago. Wouldn't be playing on the counter would they?

Nob.

Lukaku and Baines--Barkley was fouled but he milked it. Everton looked very good on MOTD.

If Remy wasn't on a *struggle cuddle* charge we would have had him on loan?

At the moment, it appears that Martinez was the best managerial appointment made over the summer. Certainly better than Moyes has been for Man U.

I'm quite happy with Englands future (from a talent point of view). I just think they need to pick players who can blossom together as opposed to picking them because of who they play for and who's a bigger name.

I agree Mata should be playing, but it was funny to see him get mugged off, even it if was by Mourinho.

Did he really get mugged off? I've watched other comments saying he 'owned' Redknapp in the Oscar/Mata debate. To me he did nothing but respond, and had a nice little buffer using the fact that he had just beaten a shocking Fulham team to appear all sage.

Sunderland down to 10 men. I didn't know that so 3-0 wasn't surprising but they did not look great.

Di Canio may flop but he respects the fans.
