The Inbetween Transfer Windows Rumour Thread

Wouldn't surprise me. We did not pay much for Bale and made a massive profit on Keane and Berbatov and Modric.
There are similar players out there.

Jose Mourinho is urging his Real Madrid money-men to step up their pursuit of Tottenham flier Gareth Bale.

Real coach Mourinho is desperate to make a big statement and shake-up a squad that has been delivering disappointing results for the Spanish giants both in the Champions League and domestically.

Bale signed a new long-term contract in the summer, but the Spurs hierarchy are still bracing themselves for a fight to keep him.

Real signed a partnership agreement with Spurs after buying Luka Modric last summer, so already have close ties with the north Londoners.
Mourinho wants to strengthen his squad and also inject additional star quality, although any swoop for Bale would be unlikely before next summer.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho wants to move on some of his current stars to fund a £50m-plus move for the Welshman.

That could see Kaka, some of Real big-name strikeforce and Mezut Ozil being moved on.

It is believed Mourinho has met with Real president Florentino Perez to try and push for the shake-up and a bid for Bale

When our "partnership" was annonunced on "Vital Football" some guy responded saying "What next, invite Arsenal on our holidays?" :p

Isco’s long-term future at Malaga looks likely to be secured in the coming days, thanks to Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani’s presence at the club.

The owner has recently come back into the picture and has declared that investment will return to the team in a month that he is also due to pay a further instalment on money owed to the players.

These are events that Marca report also have accelerated the club’s attempts to sign Isco to a new contract.

Talks have been ongoing for a number of weeks and it is understood that the youngster, who has impressed this season, will put pen to paper as soon as the next few days.

Isco will reportedly see an increase in his annual wage from €400,000 to €1.5m, an extension of his contract by two years to take him up to June 2018 and a rise in his buyout clause from €21m to €40m.

Belgian invasion set to continue as AVB eyes £8m swoop for Ajax defender Alderweireld

By Joe Ridge

PUBLISHED:07:16 GMT, 2 November 2012| UPDATED: 07:16 GMT, 2 November 2012

The Belgian pair were instrumental in helping the Amsterdam club to win back-to-back Eredivisie titles and play alongside each other at the back for their national team.

Centre back Alderweireld, 23, is rated among the best young defensive prospects in Europe and is likely to cost Tottenham £8million should they make a move in January.

Villas-Boas is looking to add a centre back to his ranks as he does not see long-term futures at the club for Michael Dawson and William Gallas.

Spurs are likely to face tough competition for Alderweireld however, with up to 15 club across Europe thought to be interested in his services.

Alderweireld would join several other Belgian internationals already plying their trade in the Premier League - including Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Emirates Marketing Project's Vincent Kompany and Tottenham's pair of Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele.

€1.5m a year? Come on Levy, we can give him double that.

nah, its much more fun to wait a year and then make a song and dance about trying to buy him for 40m euros on the final day of the 2013 summer transfer window only to fail due to lack of time

Ramos apparently tried to sign Falcao for us in summer of 2008 for about £2m.

he was on the radar thats for sure. Rumour was Poyet went out to watch him too

Milito was waiting to sign all summer back in 2008 too (along with teammate Sergio garcia). Spurs delayed and delayed and Milito got pi$$ed off on the final day of the window that he refused to wait any longer and jumped at the chance to join Genoa

Comolli is tottering at Spurs
Sep 7 2008 By Dave Kidd

Damien Comolli's job as Tottenham's sporting director is under threat after he failed to land Argentine striker Diego Milito on transfer deadline day.

Damien Comolli's job as Tottenham's sporting director is under threat after he failed to land Argentine striker Diego Milito on transfer deadline day.

Spurs' manager Juande Ramos had targeted Milito all summer but was put off by the £15million demanded by his Spanish club Real Zaragoza.

But Spurs were offered Milito, 29, for a fraction of that price in the countdown to Monday's deadline and Ramos was desperate to sign him as Dimitar Berbatov headed to Manchester United.

However Comolli was accused of botching the move and Milito opted to join Italian club Genoa despite them offering significantly less than Tottenham's £40,000-a-week wages.

Deteriorated Spurs' chairman Daniel Levy is now considering Comolli's position, with the Frenchman's relationship with Ramos having deteriorated.

Several of Comolli's buys have failed to make the grade since he replaced Frank Arnesen in the job three years ago.

Spurs were also pursuing a second target from Zaragoza, forward Sergio Garcia, who instead signed for Real Betis on Monday. A renewed bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan was snubbed by the Spanish club after they qualified for the Champions League group stages.

After the departures of Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe, Spurs have only two senior strikers on their staff - Russian new boy Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren Bent, a player Ramos has been sceptical about.

Youngster Fraizer Campbell is on loan from Manchester United, who are unlikely to allow the player to leave permanently if he is a success at Spurs.

Damien Comolli in the firing line after Spurs' shocking start
By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER UPDATED: 11:38, 17 September 2008

Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli is in danger of paying the price for Spurs' worst start to a League campaign for 34 years, according to reports.

The White Hart Lane hierarchy are livid, reports the Daily Mirror, after Comolli failed to recruit a top striker on transfer deadline day to replace Dimitar Berbatov - despite the £14million capture of Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Real Zaragoza's Sergio Garcia and Diego Milito joined Real Betis and Genoa instead of Tottenham.

Spurs flapped, bidding for Emile Heskey from Wigan then Reading's Kevin Doyle.

They ended up with rookie Fraizer Campbell on loan from Manchester United.

isnt it funny how Comolli got the blame, but since he left weve had the same last day shenanigans on numerous occasions :-k
