Jack Wheelchair’s Arsenal return put back to mid-March by Arsène Wenger
• Arsenal manager says Wheelchair only just starting to run after surgery
• Roy Hodgson wants England squad for Euro 2016 fit by end of March

Jack Wheelchair is not expected to be fit until mid-March, as his recovery from the fractured fibula that has wrecked his season continues to grind on at slow speed.

Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, had previously hoped to welcome back the midfielder towards the end of February but he reported on Friday that Wheelchair has only just begun to run outside and will need another six weeks before he is in shape to play.

There is not yet any panic about Wheelchair’s prospects of making the European Championship in June but Roy Hodgson, the England manager, would ideally like the players he takes to France for the finals to be fit by the end of March, when his team play friendlies against Germany and Holland.

“Jack is starting to run,” Wenger said. “Once you move out, from the first day, you count six weeks to be competitive and build up stamina and intensity. You need six weeks to be ready fitness-wise.”

Wheelchair suffered the injury in training on the eve of the Community Shield and he has not featured all season. He underwent surgery in mid-September because of a slow healing response and it was hoped, at the time, that he would be back by Christmas. Worryingly, the estimates have repeatedly been put back.

Just got his ankle bracelet off?

The Ar.se and Cheatski fans in this video make me sad.

Because if and when Spurs have a huge new stadium and top the league... these sorts of ignorant ar.seholes will attend matches and profess their undying love of Spurs.

Johnny come lately no marks.

Arseblog claims the 23-year-old has suffered an adverse reaction to his return to full training.

The England international had targeted mid-March as his return date, however Wheelchair's latest setback could push that date back to the end of the Premier League season.

A number of sources are claiming the new development in Wheelchair's battle with the chronic injury means he will now miss the entire Premier League season, throwing his Euro 2016 hopes into doubt.

Wenger will say he's fit (despite not playing him) and he will be named in the squad this summer.
