The Current State of Spurs (and some sympathy for Thomas Frank)

He has won the Europa league with Eintracht Frankfurt & the FA cup with Palace having only been there for two years. Frank was at Brentford for seven years & won nothing. His biggest achievement was keeping Brentford in the league. For me Palace play a better brand of football to Franks Brentford & at the moment us. At the end of the day it's all opinions what we can agree on is we need to win trophies whoever the manager maybe

To be honest I think Brentford & Palace are are on the same level.Neither could keep there best players & they certainly don't have the financial clout of most Premier league clubs

Using the same metric as our EL win, Frankfurt beat rangers in the final, yes Glasgow rangers from the SPL, and had to go to penalties to do so.
Not exactly such a ringing endorsement.

Well unlike others I consider winning the UEFA cup an achievement & I didn't want Ange sacked. He should have been given this season. That's a whole different thread

It's odd that we wanted trophies finally win one then say it's the UEFA cup & it doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't mind winning the FA cup which he also achieved in a short period of time. Was that nothing

I find it strange people don't see them as achievements

The EL trophy means a lot to me. I do agree that we shouldn't be so dismissive of Frank's amazing achievements though. You can have both at the same time.

Its the biggest slight of hand tactic to fool a fanbase that is easily fooled

"the big bad wolf has gone, we want success and we want the investment to be on the field not off it"

I mean if they were not the same owner group that was here before it wouldn't be so laughable

The idea also now that people still talk and act like Levy was acting like some broken arrow, taking their investment from 55m to 4bn and took all those decisions on his own, and therefore they are now upset................do me a favour
It's more like, when Lewis was in charge, he was happy to let Levy fatten up the cow, because he was doing a bloody good job. Now his kids are in charge, it's 'let's have a go at playing PL chairman '.

I am not dismissive of what he has done especially keeping Brentford up for 7 years. What I am saying is evaluate frank at the end of season but if we did sack him know I would go with Glasner

What are Franks achievements beside keeping Brentford in the premier league for seven years

Lewis is still the owner, their involvement is just a legality loop hole.

Point is, Levy wasn't doing anything without his say so, the idea he was working as a lone wolf is BS

My point big concern is about TF is i cannot see what style of play he is trying to employ. Is he leading towards counter attack, does he want the ball, or something in between. There is no hint of anything. That needs to change asap to give the players a chance to adapt

How old is Lewis now? What is his health like? Is he even sane?
Sacking Levy and getting his kids involved in any way suggests not. Or it wasn't his decision?

Frank spent years and years in youth coaching and assistant roles. It's really only been 2018 since he's been a 1st team manager. I would say this last bit is not dissimilar to Klopp at Mainz 05. Jurgen was 7 years there with the smallest stadium and the smallest budget and built his reputation that attracted him to Dortmund. He never looked back in his next 2 roles and there were no trophies to fall back on in the early days.

I don't think there is any linear model you'll fine with these managers.

btw, wasn't saying you individually were being dismissive. I have read posts doing that though. Quite ironic really after everyone putting up the big fight that Ange's career in other leagues was credible and shouldn't have been questioned. Then Frank gets dissected like a lab rat for operating in one of the world's toughest leagues for a long time.

I imagine Spurs are just now for sale more so than ever and more so than any of them will have the fans believe
If that is true, they obviously thought it's worth more without Levy, or easier to sell, or maybe he was a dissenting voice, and didn't want to sell/sell to anyone?
You would have thought that anyone looking to buy to just make money would want Levy to remain?

I imagine Levy and having a voice in that given his shares is likely an easier situation to resolve without him there. He would likely have different ideas at the junction of a sale than others, given the time he spent actively building the club at the coal face
