The Cricket Thread

To be fair, he only averaged around 50 by scoring 20s and 30s, then scoring the odd 50 and 100.

Youre right though, i do think players like ravi bopara deserve a chance though, very good technical player

Bopara is brick.

He's had more than a fair chance.

And your comments about Pietersen's average are strange! That's what an AVERAGE is fella!! Big scores and small ones!! When he does have a good knock it usually changes the match.

Just saw michael clarke is the 3rd best test batsmen in the world...ahead of Cook and Trott...

Almost as embarrasing as when mitchell johnson won cricketer of the year.

Oh the lolz :ross:

To be fair, he's been pretty frigging awesome lately. Averaged nearly 100 in a test series against the supposedly best (or 2nd best?) test nation in the world.

But yeah, nah, he ain't that good.

India's tour of Australia has been horrific. Worst I can remember for many years. Clarke's batted well, but really, India haven't exactly done much to test him. Or Punter, who I saw also got a double century in Adelaide. It's a shame because I think India rolling over gives the Aussies a bit of impetus and might start them on a proper comeback trail. ;)

India's tour of Oz has put our victories over them into context, take them away from the turning wickets of the subcontinent and they can't win. Likewise take us away from the swinging pitches of England and we can't win.

Home advantage should always count for plenty in tests, of course, but England did win The Ashes in Australia, and India have drawn series in both SA and Australia..... putting it all down to spin and/or swing is, I think, an over-simplification.

Load of rubbish, nothing to do with the bowling, they've done their job. It's the batsmen that are the problem, as it was considered to be even before the Indian series. Take out Trott and Cook, and we don't have any consistent outright batsmen

If i was our bowlers i'd been feeling massively hard done by at the mo, batsmen are ruining the solid foundations they've been laying down for us

England take the last 7 Pakistan wickets for 30 odd, Monthy with a 5-fer

England need 324 to win, im reckoning we will be all out for 150 tops hahah

never understood this game. anybody wanna give me an explanation of what the hecks going on out there? an abridged version'd do just fine.

Cricket - you either love it or you hate it. I can quite easily watch 5 days of test cricket, especially the Ashes, I was off work with a bad back injury during the 2005 Ashes and it was amazing to watch.

Don't expect you to understand something which can last 5 days and still end up in a draw. :D
