The Case for the Attacking play

Could not agree more especially the bolded bit. The game i have played, worked in ,and spent a fortune travelling around in has as you say become a hard watch.Sometimes i really do wish i could switch it off alltogether.
Just go down a level; follow the U21s, or a local non-league team. It's miles better football, better for you, and beer in the stands!

I think the case was made today. We controlled the ball for first 65 mins, we controlled the game for first 65 mins. All our defence looked good and in control. This squad is designed to have the ball.
Can’t speak for anyone else, but as a fan I’m never confident if we don’t have the ball. The low block and counter attack plan works well during games but using it as a starting point and the main strategy isn’t conducive to long term success n my opinion.

If we stay up (and it is still a big if) it looks as though we have a manager aligned with the club’s history and footballing ethos

Absolutely. Did anyone become a fan watching us not control a game, or at least play the right way?

All three starters did well and worked their arses off, still just lacking the quality/decision making at times

Tel put in a wonderful cross for the goal, then followed it up by mucking up 2/3 easier cutbacks.

I think everyone knew that other than Thomas Frank.
It's the one thing I'll never understand - what did TF show that he could handle a squad with prima Donna's that want the ball.

De Zerbi hasn't done anything revolutionary other than pass and move, and press as a unit.

I remember in the reverse fixture we had that stupid box of 4 players and Villa kept playing through it. No box today, just pressure and turnovers

used ai to get this and it shows how much we've missed kane and son.
even a sparingly used gareth bale was scoring more than richy and solanke.
both richy and solanke have failed to step up and got injured when the opportunity arose

Highly concerned about our lack of attacking transfers. Yes the window doesn’t close for two weeks BUT our season starts in 3 days and 17 hours. Have left it very late when we need a left winger, a striker and a number 10 still.

This will be what costs us if we don’t sort it in the next couple of days. We need a strong start to the season.

I highly doubt we're in the market for a 10

Up to 2 wingers and a CF most likely. A shame we're starting the season short in so many positions given the net spend and reported investment to aid our business that means we should have a sizeable budget still remaining.

Confident we'll get a couple more in though - just closer to the end of the window than we'd like.

I think the ticking clock becomes the concern. I've no doubt the club will do something before the window closes but we've got so many t-shirts where we've spent decent money but got players that keep us at the same level. Then of course there is the Muani loan experience. That was an end of window move after our main moves failed.

We need Tonali level improvement in the forward areas. Where does that come from?

Yeh given we had so much work done by the 6th July, the subsequent wait seems a loss of momentum TBH.

One of the big problems too is that clubs will either overcharge us for players, or will want replacement in. So that means we likely pay over the odds to persuade clubs to sell players that they’d rather want with the season nearly or having kicked off.
