Gazza Dazzla
Chris Perry
my memory might be failing me but didn't Hodge start wide and finish his career more centrally whilst Allen was the reverse and moved wider under Venables?[/QUOTE
You may well be right.

Gazza (like Hoddle, if he doesn't make it on this one he could also get in the attacking midfield position).
No way Hoddle can be left out of this team but I won't be voting for him as a DM, in my book that would be a criminal waste of his talents. There is a case of sorts I suppose given his sublime passing skills but in other respects he would probably have been a liability in that position as tackling was never his strongest suit.
He has to go somewhere in CM for me, probably right side or central where he can work his magic to best effect opening up the opposition defence. Don't forget he was also quite a prolific goalscorer for a midfielder, scoring 132 goals in 590 appearances, approximately one every four games. Would never get near that return from DM imho.
Is there abyone that we should add to this short list?
Hoddle
Mackay
Ardiles
Blanchflower
Burgess
Modric
White
Carrick
Howells was as good/made more of a contribution than Carrick
I'm happy to go with a majority decision (or enough noise to convince me that there is some support for it).
I've got a soft spot for Howells. Does anyone else want to see him on the list?

John White was an inside right, very much an attacking midfielder, similar in certain respects to Eriksen. Though classy in everything he did he was a bit of a lightweight so I'm not sure - in fact I'm certain - that a berth in front of the back four would not be right for 'The Ghost of White Hart Lane.'
