The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

First ever live U21s game. Looked like we didnt pick the best one.

ceballos probably just the pick of the bunch, Shaq and McEvoy didnt shine, bit worried Kaboul went off, just after he had made a great run too.

The comment about the munters earlier in the thread, yes mate, you were bang on, some hounds there tonight.

The stadium absolutely stunk of bad drains, but was nice to see a few other spurs fans there tonight. Even heard a small rendition of Nicola Berti and Oh when the spurs

Probably the thread for this, but does anyone think if Villa stay up their team will prosper in 2-3 years having had to blood the youth in bulk?

We have some decent prospects coming through, and before we spunk £15m up the wall on a 'creative midfielder' I would like to see Carroll and Ceballos given a fair crack isn't that the point of producing your own youth or is it really to hawk them about on loan and then accept the highest bid from a mid table team.

At least we knew o'hara and luke young weren't good enough as they had a chance, granted it's a massive balancing act and a huge risk but if it pays off you tend to get loyalty (c**Tbell - the exception) and if they are good enough they are always backed more forgivingly by the fans and if they do leave it's a massive margin pay day.

I think 10-15 consecutive games is enough to judge a payers suitability to first class football, a mix of opponents, styles and scenarios. 10 minutes cameos are great for highlighting statistics but sometimes the only test is in at the deep end. Don't forget Bale only got a regular run because Ekotto was out injured... time to try and realise some potentials!! (Well maybe the beginning of next season 8-[)

Not sure about Villa kids however when you have a team dominating the U21s like ours have this year, even with several players loaned out, I agree that there's the case for looking to use them more

Another reminder.

Depending on what happens on Fri between LFC & MUFC, Spurs U21 could win the Elite league with a victory over Woolwich on Mon (22nd Apr).

The game kicks off at 7.00pm (doors open 6.00pm) & entry is FREE! Spurs have been given the 1200 capacity east stand & asked to drink in the Old Red Lion pub - both a short walk from High Barnet underground station. There will be plenty of Yids there, come & see for yourself the difference between an 1882 atmosphere & a home Premier League game.

Sing for the shirt. You will soon be hooked.
